Hi Val,
I just had an extended tummy tuck with lipo on the 11th (mine was almost a 5 hour surgery too) ...it has been touch I won't kid you and I have had some buyers remorse...but now at the 10 day mark...things are getting much better and I am really happy with my results. I was just not prepared for how tired I am from this. you will need help at home for the first few days. My husband was a hugh help...he took 3 days off and then the weekend ...so that was very important. I still sleep alot but finally am able to sleep most of the night through. Everyone kept telling me...they promised it will get better..and I can see now that it does! But be prepared it is big surgery....but worth it. Iove seeing my flat stomach!
good luck to you. Any questions?...please feel free to ask,
Patty
PS... I did not have any drains...but I know that most people do.

Abdominoplasty, TT,Pannilectomy, whatever we want to call it:all are much more difficult surgery on the patient than we realize!
Cut into skin and cut off skin and possible muscle work done.
Easy deal on depression and buyer remorse and hopeful redl satisfaction after a couple of weeks when finally feeling a bit better.
It is a process of healing but well worth it!

Just be prepared for pain. First 3 days are real bad. Swelling for 2-6 months post-op. Any regrets? Yeah, that I didn't so it sooner. Also if you have a recliner that would be great, I slept in mine for about 4-5 weeks. The drains will stay in from 6-9 days. No showering until after the drains come out (except sponge baths). Keep everything within arm's reach. Best of luck to you.
