Post tummy tuck questions??
Patty,
LOL!!! I am also a nurse, but when I was in the hospital for those two weeks, I had to trust that my doctors were doing the right thing. When one is in pain and not feeling well and taking pain meds, it is definitely difficult to think clearly and rationally. I found that out, when I was in the hospital for two weeks. I wasn't in pain, but my thinking was cloudy.
This board is great. As a nurse, you know that pain meds are most effective when they are taken on a regular basis.
Lee mentioned Arnica. I have been using it recently, since I have a shoulder that has developed some tendonitis. It seems to be helping, but it needs time to build up in your system. I wonder, if that might help to decrease some of the inflammation?
Take Care,
gail

I started arnica Montana 30C the week prior to surgery. I'm certain it's the reason I didn't have lipo pain. I took it for around 10 days. While I did get some great coloration on my saddlebags, I didn't get much swelling.
I think I'd better start taking it today for the seroma. Mt left leg is suddenly very swollen. Mt ankles never swelled post op. I really dont want the scale to go up from water weight
Thanks for the reminder Gail. I should find a homeopathic remedy for swelling today when I'm out.

I think I ordered off Amazon, but it can be found at Whole Foods, Pharmacia and places like that. I don't know if CVS would carry it.
The C strength is stronger than the X strength. You might want to google it. I got the strongest remedy that I could find.

Hi Lee,
You gave me the idea for Arnica. When my shoulder developed tendonitis, my trainer gave me something called Traumel, which contains Arnica and various other ingredients. It really helped to relieve some of the pain that I was having in my shoulder area. Then, I saw the homeopathic pills at Whole Foods and they were on sale, so I bought some. It does take awhile, but I think it is very helpful. I was reluctant to add motrin or more aspirin, because I have acid issues as it is, and somethings could make it worse.
Asparagus is a natural diuretic, as well as some fruit, such as watermelon. The veggies might be better, if you are watching your carbs. I once read that dandeloin was also a natural diuretic.
also, push fluids.

Yes Ma'am. Drinking my tea right now. I'm no****ching my carbs as closely right now. I'm not eating pizza or anything but I am eating fruit and other carbs. I will probably have to taper off soon unless my body decides it's going to let my metabolism stay raised for a bit longer post-op. I'm up a pound today to 141 which I think is from all the fluid in my leg.
Traumel is great stuff. I used it after I broke my ankle in 2007, then again after my ankle surgery in 2008. I really like the homeopathic remedies. I just got a tube of Calendula Gel which is for skin iritations, burns etc. I want to try it on my incisions for a few days to see how it feels. The homeopathic person at the pharmacy recommended it over things with chemicals.

Patty,
I am still having a litte buyers remorse now. I had my son at Grandmas for 3 weeks.. He is handful.. I wept when I saw him last night.. I cry often.. I feel a little helpless..I nearly tripped and feel at work on some stupid carpet.. I thought I was going to vomit afterwards I was terrified I pulled one of my incisions..which their are many..
I have to remind myself to have faith in this process.. in my surgeon, his ability, my body's ability to heal itself etc..
Trust me.. I have plenty of cheese for my whine...Like you Patty, we are accustomed to doing everything.. managing.. not so much delegating. Now, I cant hardly do much more than drive, getting myself dressed, showered etc.
I figure.. in 4 more weeks, I can re-evaluate..
