Recovery timeframe after LBL
Everybody is different....
That being said, you are looking at about 1 - 2 weeks before you are moving around. I hate to use the word comfortably because you tend to still be bent over and you are very aware of your abdominal muscles and tension in that region. You'll be tired or easily exhausted. At two weeks it is an amazing improvement from the first few days where one can feel like a turtle on its back when one attempts to get out of a recliner.
I'm going to go roller coaster-ing at week 11post op.

I can't tell you about the roller coaster.
I had my surgery in Mexico. I flew on two planes, 1.5 hours and 4 hours to get home. Surgery on the 9th, flew home 21st.
I had LBL and fat transfer to my butt on the 9th. Walking around the clinic all weekend. Face surgery was on the 12 so that slowed me down. Transferred to a hotel on the 14th. Walked to the hotel breakfast spot every morning. Grocery shopping and out for ice cream on the 15th. Went to the movies on the 16, 17, 19. Walked two hours at a mall on the 18th before going out to lunch and to the movies. It was a bit much. I slept at the movies that night. Three hours at a Christmas party on the 25th.
That's my time frame. Hope that helps.

I had LBL and BL/BA on 12-6-11. This past week was my first week back at work.
I was moving around comfortably at about 10 days, but from what I've been told by friends is that I seem to have had an easy recovery compared to others. I drove myself to my 2 week post op appointment and have been going ever since.
Having said THAT --- on Monday I had a two hour flight, a three hour drive and was EXHAUSTED (1 day short of 6 weeks post-op). I don't think we realize just how much strength & muscle we lose in other places while recovering from abdominal surgeries. I had to climb a flight of stairs, in dress boots, carrying a laptop bagpack type case and literally thought my legs were going to collapse underneath me.
I still have swelling by the end of the day - each and every day and expect this to last another 4-6 months minimum. I don't think I'll be riding any roller coasters anytime soon!!
