Exercise after PS
Just wanting to get some opinions/first hand knowledge.
If you exercised pretty regularly prior to your PS, how long until you felt strong and "back to normal" again with your exercise?
I realize that it is a slow process, starting with walking and working your way up but what was your time frame like? I am having a BL and LBL on Tuesday. Right now I feel like I am pretty active and strong (no super woman, though)- I do 3 miles, running approx 2/3 of the time, I LOVE spinning classes and other group classes.
I was at spinning class this morning and I was just pondering how long until I was going to feel up to participating again. I know that it's an individual thing, but wanted to know what other people's experiences have been.

I'm like you - at the gym 4-5 times a week. Also outdoor cycling as weather permits. With my LBL and also my revision (12/27) I was told four weeks post-op before exercise. My PS wants my inside to heal as well as the outside incision. I can't wait until next Tuesday when I am cleared to start again! I do know that I will go slow and steady and listen to my body. No spin classes for a while yet, just treadmill work and maybe a little spinning on my bike trainer at home.
If you have any questions - just ask
Good luck with your BL and LBL!

Thank you for all the wonderful advice.
I am so glad that you are able to get back to the gym. I never thought I would be a workout junkie. I don't really consider myself that now, I take breaks when life gets too hectic- like over the holidays the last couple of months. But now that I am working out again, it seems hard to imagine not having the energy and strength to do what I currently am!
Anyway, it's all for the better good! I will take it easy and rest through my recovery.
Good luck and have fun with the workouts.
