Oh, wait - I have to refer to it as "reconstructive" dont I? haha, well regardless, my surgeon is confident that I will be covered for a panniculectomy.  Heres the awesome part though:

When I went to stand up, he saw that I was in pain and had to grab my fiance's hand to straighten up all the way.  He asked what that was from so I pointed out the hanging UPPER abdomen.  He stated that he doesn't care if insurance pays for that to be done or not but it HAS to be done.  I told him that I know but there is just no money to pay out - he told me he didnt ask for money he just said it needed to be done and if I wanted it done to hush lol.  He actually has a sense of humor and apparently has a hear as well.  As long as he can get the operating room, anesthetic and panni covered, he is going to extend the panni cut as far back as he can on each side..and will "throw in" the upper abdominal cut as well as the muscle tightening!!!! I cannot stress how much I love this surgeon right now!

I told him I know with insurance paying for it, I dont expect perfect lines and a flat as can be tummy..he asked "then why do it? money is money"...wait....did I find a surgoen that is a human being with feelings for people?! Heh, miracles do happen!! ^_^

I hope you get your medical coverage w/o a hitch.
I used to be FAT but now I am fat with a FLAT tummy that I strut around like a pea****and I hope you will soon too.
I hope your surgery will be soon. If you smoke-stop as it promotes better healing and up your protein.

No smoking here, all I get is second hand.  The only problem I have is that I take nyquil for sleep - but I will do whatever the docs recommend because I know it's recommended for a reason.

He sounds great, and it sounds like you will have a good doctor/patient relationship with him.

I am absolutely in love with my surgeon for the same reason...he gets it.

He has never referred to my surgeries as anything but reconstructive.
In his opinion, and he is quite passionate about it, people who go thru what we have to get WLS, lose enormous amounts of weight and change their lives DESERVE to have their bodies fixed so that they can feel normal in their clothes.

He gets it.

Good for you!

I literally wanted to cry when I was leaving his office because I was so happy! After having doctors not listen to me for so long, it's nice to have one who is sympathetic.
