Infusion done...now the REAL waitinggame...

Well it is done and I survived without any real issues. I wasn't a fan of the expedition she had to take with the needle in my vein to place the IV, but I didn't pass out, which I'm actually a little surprised by since I tend to get woozy with the needle stuff anyway and she was digging and twisting my arm like she'd heard there was gold in there!  Now I just have to wait for the magic to happen! I'm told a week and I'll be like a new person. You'll probably hear me scream for joy all the way across the country when I finally realize I'm not an exhausted train wreck anymore.

Thanks for your support everyone. You guys are the best!!

Denise

Let us know the minute you feel energized!  I am going to see if I can get some of that magic mineral soon.
I am not big boned!  Bones don't jiggle!

Yay! You've recently lost your giddy-up go! It will be nice to have you back!

Yeah, seems my giddy up and go got up and went! I think it's been a combination of just being exhausted and feeling a bit more than worried once I got my numbers and knew I had something to worry about. Prior to getting numbers I thought it was just a function of being out of shape from not working out for so long. At least I'm on the mend!

I'll be glad to be back!!

May I ask what was your iron level? Mine is a 34 and my saturation percent  was

A 8.6. Should I be concerned? I am low, at what level do I ask about infusion. I am tried

ALL the time and have no ENERGY!

Thanks,

Shannon k

It is really a number of tests that they consider prior to infusion.

My hematocrit was 27.3
Hemoglobin 9.5
Ferritin 4
Iron 10
Saturation 3%

There may be other numbers they take into consideration like transferritin. They also say that even with higher numbers if you are symptomtic they will consider treating it. My primary didn't do the greatest job staying on top of my iron issue and yet again, I didn't know what I didn't know until I knew it if that makes sense. Find a good hematologist and if your insurance requires a referral, insist that you be given one if you feel you need further follow up.

Good luck!

Thank you for responding so quick. Your level was much lover than mine, I asked

My primary and she seems unconcerned about it. I do know it's hard to get the level up. I

have been focused on taking my vitamins. It's a full time job taking all these vitamins and a life

Long commitment. I will be retested in march and of its not better I will react then

And not wait for my primary to let it continue to fall.

Have you noticed you energy improving or if your feeling stronger? I have had a problem

With some depression, sleeplessness, fatigue, always tired and no energy. I wish I could figure out

Why I feel like this.

Thanks,

Shannon
