Iron infusion tomorrow--anyone know what I'm in for?
I'm choosing to believe that it will go smoothly with no ill effects. Murphy and his dumb law will NOT be travelling with me to this appointment!! LOL!
Hope everyone had a good, long weekend.
Thanks,
Denise

The iron infusion (venoflor) is given via IV and is a dark brown color. The entire procedure took one hour. I took a nap, sipped water, or read a book. The RN reviewed the potential side effects, none of which I experienced. I didn't receive any medication prior to the procedure, but I don't have a history of allergic reactions.
Hope this helps.
Gail
Thanks so much for that thorough description! I'm here now and it is exactly as you describe--down to the warm blanket. Tough room to be in though. Gives you an appreciation for how blessed we really are to not be dealing with cancer.
This is a one-time infusion that will take me about 5 hours total--maybe a little longer.
I got my test dose and I'm not having any issues, so yay me!
Thanks again!
