Medial thigh lift--opinions

I am likely having my revisions to my boobs, outer thighs, and mons in March. I am strongly considering seeing about having something done to address the loose skin at the upper inner thigh. I really don't care about the lower leg above the knee even though I have cellulite--it is the crepey stuff that goes down maybe 6" from the crotch--maybe not quite that much. I know he said that if you only do the groin cut that goes around to the buttocks you can only get limited improvement. Is that called medial thigh lift or is called that just because of the fact that you are doing the inner leg? I'd even be willing to have a scar down several inches onto the thigh, but my concern is not so much with the scarring as it is the recovery. I've read a lot about people having a really rough time with the thighs and though that maybe with the smaller incisions I'd have less difficulty even if I don't get the amount of improvement I might with a larger scar. So is the less invasive cut a manageable recovery?

And of course there is the $$$. Have NO idea what this might add surgeons fees wise, so that may put it out of reach just because of that.

Thanks for any opinions or information.

Denise

With all my surgery, my only problem area is my groin.  When the stitches came out, I had apparently lost one stitch on each side.  We closed that with steri strips.  That was at three weeks.  At around four weeks I noticed that I had an opening about one inch long at the top of one groin incision.  Now at 5.5 weeks, that healing, but there is a very small opening where the thigh incision meets the groin incision.

My groin incisions are around four inches long.

This has definitely slowed me down!  I walk a lot and am doing good but this area just plagues me.  The incisions down to my knees are easier than the groin.  It's just a tender sensitive area and the binders dig into me.  I have soft cotton hankies stuffed in there.  Very sexy!!!

I agree with Lee.  THe groin area is just a sensitive area.  I honestly had a harder time with my TT than my medial thigh lift (which goes all the way down to my knee).  Upon talking to my PS who did the inner thigh lift, she showed me how her incision was slightly different than most.  She did not go right on the panty line, but down about an inch.  Sure it will show in a swimsuit, but I had no stitch popping or pulling because of the lower incision line.  I did have a revision with a different PS and he went into the panty line area.  I can see how that would be difficulut if it ws both legs!  (It looks much better though!)

How was the iron transfusion?

Ugh--so much to consider. Then I think if I opt out of the thighs or he doesn't want to just do the smaller scar, then I wonder if I should do my arms. Just one of those deals where if I'm going under anesthesia I want to knock out one last problem area if I can.

And the infusion went well. Thanks so much for thinking about me!!! They say about a week before I'm feeling up to par. Can't wait!!!

Thanks again for checking on me--means a lot!

The difficult area on the thigh lift is the incision that is used in the groin area. This occurs for several reasons.  One, that area will have a lot of tension on it - particularly the point (if you can imagine it) where the bikini line cut meets the under butt/inner thigh cut.  Two, that area gets a lot of movement or pressure unless you are splayed out like a frog all the time. Three, the area is moist.

So for the thigh lift, regardless of whether or not you add the vertical portion, one has to worry about wound openings, migration of scars, and pulling of the labia resulting in an open look.  The last two problems can limited by selecting a pro surgeon.

I'm having a thigh lift combined with revision on my BL and BA and arm lift in a 3 weeks.  As you kow, I didnt heal that great from the first round of plastics although things are much better.  My doc says we will use different stitches so I wont have a reaction.  His assistant tells me that seromas are not a problem in this area like in the LBL and if one does occur it will be ok to let it self absorb.

Ooh, open labia--not wanting that on the menu. Good point--definintely one I will have to talk about as I am going to have the mons revised and that would not please me . Without your note  I'd have not even known about it to mention it. That is why I love this board! How are your seromas going? What's the latest word? I have asked my surgeon for an ultrasound order. Just going to do it because I think the seromas are definitely resolving, but I still have this weird sensation of lying on something or something pressing into my back when I sit.

Excited to hear how you do. And I have no objection to staying splayed out like a frog--at least then I don't have to do dishes!!

Thanks dear!
