Good Morning all!

I was wondering when you went back to work post PS? What kind of PS did you have? Physical/Non Physical job?

I have been out for 2 weeks.. and will be out for at least another week. I mainly do office type of work but my job is high demand/high stress. Currently, I have a lot of swelling on the belly and boobs. It difficult gets showered and dressed in under an hour. I dont want to push myself too hard or too fast.

When did you decide that you were ready to get back to work?

I can't really answer this because I was terminated after 18 years while still in Mexico for two weeks having surgery.  I was scheduled back to work on december 27th.  Surgery on the 9th and 12th.  I did work on the 27th, then spent all day in my office on the 28th cleaning up files for the new corporate office, packing up my office, helping my two assistants, then taking the out for a very late lunch.  All of our jobs were eliminated.

Iwas happy for the timing and would have hated having to work a few weeks then be terminated.  At least this way i have been able to devote myself to healing.  At a month out now, I could easily go ack to a desk job.  See my sig line for procedures.

Lee,

I tried on my work slacks and they fit even with the binder on.. Thank God.. I was worried like so many others that my clothes wouldnt fit due to the swelling.. At least now, I know what I can wear.

I am trying to increase my stamina and endurance.. Like walking and sitting in a chair for longer periods of time.. I have to take breaks from standing. I am going to try to get a little more walking in today too!

Thanks again,
Michelle

Michelle, isn't it a relief when the pants fit!  What a thrill that is when we're excecting so much swelling and actually fit into our clothes.

Momentary hijack...

Leeeeee!!! You cute lil thing.
Can I just say the whole job thing...wow. That absolutely blows.
But you inspire me with your always positive outlook and your can-do attitude.
I think you are awesome and I wanted to tell you that since I have been around much to post!

Ok...back to the return to work topic.
I went back at 3.5 weeks...the day after my last JP was removed.
I am an RN but mostly work at my computer reviewing surgical records.
I had no probs.
I'm not gonna lie...I was tired and went to bed early for a week or two.

Michelle,

I'm interested in the responses.  Like you, I'm an office worker in a stressful job.  I'm hoping to gradually ease back into work.  I think I can work from home for a few days and maybe even hit the office in the morning and work from home in the afternoon.

I work in a college physics department, so during the semester my job is physical (lab set ups and such) but between semesters (like now) it's a desk job. I came back 12 days after brachio... I felt good enough to come back after 3 or 4 days, but since I work 10-12 hour shifts, and I did tire easily, it was probably good to wait (anyway I had to wait that long because the school was closed for the holidays). One thing to consider with brachio and a desk job, which I had not thought of, is that at the computer, if you hunch over at all (such as rest on your elbows while you type or write) your arms are in a position below your heart and they swell.

Got down to 106 but gained back to 144 (did not take my dad's death well).

Hey Michelle,

I manage a HoneyBaked Ham store and it is definitely not a sit down job.  I had TT and brachio on 1/6 and went in today to do payroll and then to the dog park  (short walk, long sit for me.)  I am going back to work full time on Tuesday.  I have had a great recovery but you do have to ask for help to get heavy things or things that are out of your compromised reach.
I am not big boned!  Bones don't jiggle!
