Done with my brachioplasty.  Feeling pretty good, had it yesterday arms are very swollen. When they took ace wraps off I looked and thought "this is it?". How long does the swelling stay.  I'm just hoping this is gonna look better. Oh and no one mentioned I'd have an I've in my foot!  Anyone else have the pleasure of that?

My PS told me yesterday 6 weeks of swelling but on this board.. I have seen folks with swelling up to 6 months..

Trust me, I need to get my swelling down too.. I need to put my work clothes back on eventually.

We are all different.  I didn't ever swell much but at three weeks I noticed that my garments were a bit looser and my things were Nora's tigh.  I noticeda little more lose skin on my arms at the point as well.

Sorry about the swelling, but it most likely temporary. You just had surgery, so some swelling is probably normal for this stage.

As far as the IV in the foot, if your arms were being worked on, the foot is a logical choice to place an IV.

My left arm is still noticably swollen 3 wks out... my right is only a little bit swollen, if at all.

I'd read about the foot IV on this board so I asked ahead of time about that. I use EMLA numbing cream before IVs so I needed to know where to apply it before coming in on the surgery day. My surgeon looked at me as though I was a bit nutty... he always puts the IV in the hand for brachio.

Thanks, makes me feel better, they measure 2 inches smaller even with the swelling. Started out at 15.5 inches.

It is hard tostart an IV in me and after 2 tries in the hands the RNs considered a foot IV but was able to stick  at the base of my thumb.  I had my brachio Friday, along with TT, and I see a huge difference in my arms!  There is definitely some swelling but more in my belly.
I am not big boned!  Bones don't jiggle!

Wow Lisa, you just had brachioplasty last Friday? So we can relate. They said they had to do it in my foot since they were working on my arms sometime I lost that IV and didn't get meds. Woke up crying in pain since it was over they put new one in my hand.

After the surgery most of the swelling was gone after 4 weeks but for the next several months whenever I exercised or had a long day at work they would be swollen at night.  But it was worth it.  Before surgery they were having problems finding a vein in my foot - when I woke up in recovery my IV was in my neck.
