Infusion here I come...

I met with a new hemotologist today. Really liked him. Gotta love doctors with a good sense of humor AND a brain. He took a lot of time with me, explained things and at this point I am going to be having an infusion late this week, early next depending on how fast the folks at the insurance company work. It will the be one-time shot deal--no 10 day garbage. I told him of my emergency room visit and he said that it was surprising that the doctor dismissed my complaints so readily as anxiety given my numbers. This doctor noted an inordinate jump in my heart rate when I went from a chair just a couple steps to the exam table, so while he did not think that a transfusion would have been merited at the emergency room, he also said I am having cardiac/respiratory symptoms of being very iron deficient--and to chalk it up as anxiety was irresponsible. He is confident I will be feeling better soon and I am so excited for that moment I cannot even begin to tell you.

Thanks for all your advice, support, and encouragement. I knew low iron could make you tired. I had NO idea all of the body systems that rely on appropriate iron levels. Kind of amazing when you think about it.

I'm going to take a nap. Gonna have to enjoy my doctors orders to take it easy while I still can! Maybe I can get a standing order for a daily nap--and a weekly filet mignon with creamed spinach and a nice glass of red wine.

Have a good day everyone!

Denise
