I could tell due to swelling in a specific area.  He watched it and said if it didn't reabsorb that we would then need to drain it.  I could press on the area and it was like a waterbed.

I just had to have one reinserted on my right hip. I could feel the fluid moving around and if the room was quiet, other people could even hear the liquid, too.

The original plan was just to drain it with a syringe, but I had a little separation in my lower body lift incision and when I stood up, the fluid started pouring down my leg. At that point, the surgeon just got a sterile drain and inserted it into the open part of the incision and stitched it closed around it. No big deal at all.

I hope your re-insertion isn't a big deal, either.
