i go in on the 3rd for my first post op visit i hope they take my drains out it'll be 12 days with the drains in. i log everyday 3 times a day, sometimes there at 10-25 cc's never more than 25 now. do you think my doctor will take them out on the 3rd?  and when they take them out where does the fluids go then? do they sew the drain holes up?

My doc kept my drains in until I was draining around or less than 10cc's in a 12 hour period.  I know that the drains are annoying, but you want all that fluid outside of you rather than inside. It is possible for the body to absorb that fluid but it is just asking one more thing of an already stressed body. With the drains the body can work on healing up rather than absorbing.   When the drain is removed, the fluid just collects inside the body and needs to be absorbed.  If your body does this well than it is awesome, if not...it can be a seroma.

I didn't get any stitches for the drain holes, the oozed a bit and then just coagulated and close scabbed then closed up. I have two little dents where the drains were. I think of them as pubic dimples.  Dimples are always cute, right?
