THE WEIGHT OF SKIN TAKEN OFF AND LIPO?

My surgeon said he doesn't typically weigh the skin/fat unless the patient requests it. He said that the goal of this procedure is not to loose weight.

I was told by all the plastic Surgeons that I had consults with that I had very little to no fat and it was mostly skin. They all said the same thing that skin doesn't weigh much.

That being said I did request that they weigh. I had 5 pounds removed. He did Lipo my outer thighs as he said to give me definition.

I'm one that doesn't believe in BMI measuring my existence. Technically I'm still over weight with a BMI of 27. I could easily go down to a normal BMI as I do have to put effort into stop loosing weight. I went down as low as a BMI of 26 and really didn't like the way I looked.

I think it's a personal decision as to when to stop loosing and what weight you want to maintain at. I'm comfortable maintaining between 195 and 200 pounds. That being said it's a personal choice as to what weight you want to have plastics. As it's best to maintain that weight otherwise you end up with revisions down the road.

I was at my personal goal and less than my WLS surgeons goal for me.  My surgery was three weeks ag tomorrow.  Six pounds of skin and lipoed two liters of fat out of my thighs and saddlebags.  He put the good fat back into my tush because it was so flat.   When I had my face done a few days later, he lipoed fat from my leg to put into my face.

I think peop,e have PS when they are ready and it's not for the rest of us to judge.  I'm too busy judging myself to worry about you.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head--men v. women. Women inherently have more fat than men--helps us out with that whole child rearing thing. I'm guessing you didn't mean to insinuate that folks that need lipo didn't do a good job with their weight loss, but it reads a bit like that. I felt like a bit of a failure for not getting to my "goal" weight. Well once my excess skin to the tune of 14.5 pounds was removed I was a heck of a lot closer to my goal and without the surgery I could have had a distorted perception of my success because of a stupid number.

I hope you have the outcome that you were looking for, regardless of whether or not you needed lipo.
