Had Panni removal and Tummy tuck done 12/16. Pls tell what to expect and what to do
Hi everyone,
I had my panni removal and tummy tuck done on 12/16. dr. said he removed almost 10 pounds.
I wanted to know what to expect over the next few weeks and months.
I want to know from your expereince.
One friend of mine said compression bandage is very important like a girdle but the doctor said no. what is true ?
when can i expect to see the swelling go down. I still have the drains in me.
I have lost over 110 pounds and wanted that tier around my stomach gone. It feels so much better.
Thank you all.

Please see the link above to learn about why compression is so necessary.
I had my bodywork done on december 9th and have to wear a garment that goes from my calves to my elbows because I had many procedures. My surgeon, Dr. Sauceda instructed me to wear them for six weeks. I take them off only to shower. I want to be sure that all laters adhere to each other as explained in the link.
I removed my last two drains two weeks after my surgery. My surgeon determines when they come out based on the daily fluid output.
Please advocate for yourself and get your surgeon to explain his thinking about the garment. I was given two sets so that I can wash one while wearing the other.
Keep asking questions!

Wow! Congratulations on the impressive loss.
I got my compression garment during my stay at the hospital post surgery and wore it for 6 weeks. Is your PS in New York? Maybe you should ask to have a last minute appointment to go in and speak with them and have everything explained further. It's kind of strange he didn't give you one so you should definitely push him for more detail about it because maybe he said no for a reason.
I had 4 drains and the first was removed about a week and a half after surgery. Then they were removed one by one over the next few visits (my last was removed 3 weeks after surgery). The drains are really annoying but very important for getting all that fluid out of the body. As most do, I had to measure my drainage before I emptied them and then record how much fluid was being produced so my surgeon knew when to take them out.
I was very swollen for about a month after the surgery but it's slowly improving. I'm 2 months post lbl and even though it is still noticeable, I don't feel physically impaired by the swelling anymore. My surgeon told me it can take anywhere from 6 months to a year to see the final results. He recommended I use a warm compress across my tummy to help with the swelling and muscle soreness and also emphasized the importance of walking around to improve swelling and flexibility.
If you do get a compression garment and still need a place, my family has used Falk Surgical Supplies for a long time and they are at 1153 1st Ave and their number is 2127448080. They may require a prescription for the garment but I'm not sure.
(When you said NY I assumed you meant NYC... so I hope I'm right.... )
Hope this helps! Good luck with everything!
