The Doctor who did my surgery is the chief resident at the end of his tenure at the program. He will be sitting for his boards in the next month or so. There were medical students in the room but they did not do any of the cutting.

It's important to know who your surgeon is and the level of his/her experience. Some people will not utilize a surgeon who is not board certified.

I work in the technology field and I know plenty of people who are certified in their craft but don't know their a$$ from their elbows. My criteria is more based on experience especially with weight loss patients. I saw patients who had this particular surgeon and they showed me his work.

I also looked up the attending physician and was impressed with his qualifications as his specialty was with burn victims and wound care.

If you can get a discount as a vet I'm happy for you. Just a word of warning as with everything in life cheaper is not always better. Doesn't matter if it's a teaching program or not.  

Same as with your bariatric procedure research your doctor as well as his/her aftercare program.
