Most likely it's a teaching hospital. That was the route that I took. I paid $5,700 for a Circumferential Lower Body Lift. They charge by the number of hours in the OR. My fee included OR Time, Anesthesia, Pre Op Testing and 3 Follow-up visits. I did pay an additional $500 to stay in the hospital for a night. This was more of a security blanket as I didn't know what to expect.

I'm having a great result so far. I really liked my Doctor. He has 15 years of experience as a surgeon the last 7 years doing exclusive plastics. He has alot of experience with weight loss patients and I had several references from my weight loss support group where I was actually able to see his work.

There is also a board Certified attending supervising the whole procedure in the OR.

I'm planning on doing my breasts in May. They quoted me $2,800 for that.

The interesting thing was I had a consult with the group that attending physicians run. They quoted me $14k just for the tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) procedure.

The two attending Physicans that overviewed my case were from LIPSG (Long Island Plastic Surgeons Group). The Resident who performed my surgery is a fellow there and is about to take his boards and open his own practice in Texas by next Summer.

mike its not a teaching hospital its stanford, the resident will be performing the surgery, i'm a veteran and palo alto and standord work together so i'm thinking its so cheap because i'm a veteran. the resident that helped with my tummy tuck will be a resident at stanford in a year and a half so if i wait until then she will be doing the prosedure, its actually at the stanford clinic,

If you are having surgery with a resident then it IS a teaching hospital.

I am having surgery Wednesday with the University of Maryland Plastic Surgery Resident Clinic. My surgery will be performed by the Chief Resident and he will be under the supervision of an attending physician. I am having an extended tummy tuck and thigh lift. The price is $8500 for everything including up to 23 hours in the hospital so I will be staying overnight.
Can't wait to update y'all with my results.

I had a consult with Stanford's teaching program in March. While the price was somewhat less than plastic surgeons in the Bay Area, I would not use them as they did not have expertise working on the post massive weight loss body and it seemed the post-op care was lacking. They were not able/willing to do the work that I need and what they could do was piecemeal at best.
I am choosing to work with Dr Sauceda in Monterrey,Mexico because of his experience, artistry and aftecare.    I hope you have better luck with Stanford than I did.

its not the teaching program i will be going too its the resident that will be performing the surgery actually the one that assisted in my tummy tuck will be a resident at stanford in a year in a half, so more than likely she will be doing my tummy tuck. i'm a veteran so maybe thats why its costing so less for me.
