Hi- I'm having my surgeries done tomorrow and I'm pretty terrified. Does anyone have any words of advice on how they kept themselves calm. Sadly, my boyfriend just broke up with me a few days ago, which has not helped my mental state. I want to go into this surgery as strong as possible and do this just for me without worrying about him at all. This might sound dumb, but do you think it is ok to be sad about him, but still get through this surgery well? I guess I just sort of need a pep talk because I'm so ready for the new me, a new year, and to leave all my "extra baggage"  behind. I'm just scared and sad....

Good luck with your surgeries tomorrow!  I was surprisingly very calm the morning of surgery.  I think after going through all the hard work of losing the weight and saving for the surgery, I felt it was time for the next step.  You will do great!!  I can only talk about my own recovery from an LBL - it wasn't that bad at all.  Just take some time tonight to have everything ready for when you come home and then remember to take the time to let yourself heal!

Congratulations on a New Year and a New You!!

Good luck on your surgeries tomorrow. I am sure that everything will go well. As the PP said, take some time out for yourself tonight and just breathe. You have worked hard to get to where you are today and don't allow some idiot guy ruin this for you. While it does suck that your BF broke up with you 2 days ago, look at the bright side, you have less baggage. Focus on you. Leave him alone and don't give him another thought. When he comes crawling back, remember that he dumped you just days before your surgery. That is a super ****ty move.
Everything will work out for the best. You will be so happy with your results. Congratulations again and keep us posted.

Think of tomorrow as the start of the new you ....just in time for the new year!  The timing of your BF breaking up really sucks..I am sorry but you are doing this for you and keep telling yourself. that.  This is going to make you the best you for the right guy that comes along!..and it will make you feel great so you are ready when he does come along!  Do you really want someone that would break up with you two days before you really needed them??  You deserve better!
Good luck tomorrow...(when I wrote you a note earlier...I had my days confused!)  You know you are in great hands.  Will be thinking of you and hoping you have a smooth few days. Keep us posted when you can.

good luck!  Hugs,
Patty

Just wanted to echo the thoughts of the others. It is completely natural to be sad and yes, you can be sad and get through this. Do keep in mind you will have some natural depression after the surgery (anesthesia, meds, etc.), so that may intensify the emotions you are experiencing. I say good riddance to someone who decides to break up with you days before a life-changing surgery. Granted, I don't know your situation at all, but with friends like that, who needs enemies!

You are going to do fine, with or without him. Try your best not to concentrate on him. Focus on you. Relationships come and go, but your new body will be with you forever and you deserve to take the time you need to relax and heal.

Praying for a safe surgery and speedy recovery!!

Denise

Thank you all!!! I really needed to hear all of this. I'm finishing up packing for the hospital and plan on just relaxing and trying to think positive thoughts. I will update all of you as soon as I can and thank you for all of the kind wishes and prayers. It's time for a new start and a new me!

Just wanted to say that I'm thinking of you today, and I'm sure your surgery is over by now and everything went well. I'm scheduled for a lift and tummy tuck on January 26th, and I'm sure I'll be just as nervous the night before. Can't wait to hear how things went for you! Feel better soon...

Hope you had a safe and successful surgery.  As for the ex, that's the best way of thinking about him.  Concentrate on your and your healing.  You deserve better.

Thinking of you and hope your surgery went well. Don't forget, we're all here if you need to talk post-op.  I kind of want to copy and paste the first paragraph of Denise's post.  I had some real down days post op as I came off of the pain meds and my hormones ran wild.  Happy to chat if you feel down...or for that matter, if you feel UP!.

Soon, this phase will be over and you will be able to enjoy the new you - sans all that extra skin!
