Hello :)
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself to this board. I had the RNY in 2008 and have been quite successful (I lost 180 lbs) but now it is time to look at plastics. I am looking at a few procedures: A BL/BA, abdominoplasty, and a brachioplasty. I would love to get a LBL but I am so fearful of a bad outcome.
I have a consult in January and am looking forward to completing my journey.
I have been very grateful of the OH boards in the past and I am looking forward to getting to know everyone here.
Take care,
Dani

I had brachioplasty in 2009 and had a lbl/bl about 6 months ago. Why are you worried about a bad outcome with a lbl? If you pick a good surgeon, there should be no problem. I think my surgeon is one of the best and my results look fantastic.

Laura,
I guess I have just seen some bad results, but you are absolutely right about picking the correct surgeon. Actually Dr. LoMonaco is one of the surgeons I am looking at, I have heard and seen amazing results and everyone at his office is so kind and helpful! I was wondering about how long were you down for after the brachioplasty? I am a full time student as well as a massage therapist so I was just trying to get a ball-park range of healing times.
Thanks,
Dani

I love Dr. LoMonaco and also believe he is one of the best. He did miracles with me. My body was a complete mess and now I look "normal". Still amazed everyday.
For my brachioplasty, I would have been ready to go back to work in 10 days, but had taken off 2.5 weeks. Only the first 3 days were tough. For my lbl/bl, I am a teacher and was off for the summer. I had 7 weeks to recover, which was nice.

Congratulations with your success!
I had my lbl almost 7 weeks ago. I too am a full-time student so I did the surgery over a break but need to wait to get the rest of my work done. I'm very happy with my results and as Laura said, it really depends on the surgeon. When I looked online and saw all the pictures of tts and lbls etc. I was not impressed. Then I saw my surgeon's book of pre surgery and 6 months post surgery photos and was blown away because they looked nothing like what I'd seen before. My weight loss surgeon and plastic surgeon are good friends and many years ago decided that there needed to be better options for weight loss patients who were left with flaps of skin everywhere. I absolutely love my surgeon and consider him to be one of the best. After my surgery I was very swollen and sore but the worst was the first three days. The first night I was in a lot of pain when the hospital made me get up and move around because the swelling made my skin feel tight. I got fat necrosis (after a week), which is pretty uncommon and wasn't close to being serious but it slowed my healing and that annoyed me. I returned to school 3 weeks after surgery but wish I'd had an extra week to rest and have help from my family. Everything has healed up, I have more energy and the swelling has gone down a lot so I'm happy and feel great. I know I still have a few months before I see the total results but I'm already so excited that whenever I pass a mirror (in private, of course) I have to stop, lift my shirt up and twirl around. The better the surgeon, the better the results and it sounds like you already have an impressive and honest review from a happy patient- Yay!
Good luck with everything!

I had the LBL, BL, arms and medial thigh lift with Dr Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico. I was off for 8 weeks. I did a few Bowen treatments, but I'm not sure I would have been effective doing a massage. It takes a while for the arms to heal. Plus, I got tired easily.
