What to expect from an outer thigh lift - LBL revision?

Been away from the boards for a while but this Wednesday is my pre-op appt.   My LBL was in June and I'm needing a revision due to saddlebags.  This time the PS is going to do lipo along with the surgery.

Am wondering if anyone has had just an outer thigh lift and what the results/recovery time is?  My surgery is scheduled for Dec. 27.  Thanks!

I'm excited to hear the replies. I'm certain I'm going to be facing down an outer thigh revision. Really bothered by my remaining saddlebags that I was not under the impression would still be there. He acts like it will be no big deal to do, but I'm already having such trouble with residual pain/numbness, etc., that I can't imagine getting more surgery! Super good luck to you! Keep me posted!

Denise - I totally understand where you are coming from.  I was also left with the impression that my saddlebags would have been taken care of by my first surgery.  Especially since when I went for consultations I asked each surgeon - I didn't have issues with my stomach, etc, it was my saddlebags.  All three consults said I needed an LBL to address it.  Luckily, I did ask about my PS's policy about revisions, etc.

My mindset going into this is it won't (hopefully) be as major as the LBL.  Outpatient surgery, home the same day, etc.  Will have everything I can organized, etc. in advance and then just focus on healing again!

Is it horribly rude to ask how much round 2 will set you back? My surgeon said no surgeons fees to address it, but I don't know what I'll be looking at for hospital time, anesthesia, etc. I just can't believe I have to spend another cent!!

Ah well, no one said perfection would be cheap! LOL.

Take care!

Denise - not horribly rude at all to ask what "round 2" is costing me.  To be honest, it took me five years of saving to afford my LBL - that's how long I've been at my goal weight.  Round 1 cost a little bit over $13,000 including PS, anesthesia, 2 day hospital stay, etc.

The thought of having to pay one more cent to get the results I originally wanted was very hard to accept.  Currently I am a size 10 at my waist and a full size 12 at my hips.  Pants are now impossible to find that will fit and I'm having to take everything in a lot at the waist.  Ugh!  I'm running around in a lot of drawstring yoga pants, etc.

My PS is waiving his fees (revision) and I'm paying for the operating room, anesthesia, etc.  Their office policy is pay in full two weeks before scheduled surgery.  When I called to pay I was told I had an outstanding credit on my bill of $400.00 which I didn't know about.  That was a nice surprise and took a little of the sting out of having to pay again!

My out of pocket costs would have been $1,300+ without the credit.  I am going to tell him on Wednesday that if during the surgery he needs more time to make it right - I am willing to pay more for the operating room, etc.

In retrospect - my PS should have done lipo on my saddlebags along with the LBL.  He is now doing it this time.  I am not one of those who want perfection - because if I was I'd be saving to have my breasts done, etc.  I've always been pear-shaped and have a lot of loose skin in the hip area.  I have had to wear some type of spanx to contain my loose skin around my hips as it wants to move on it's own.  And living in a climate where the summer**** 100 degrees - it is brutal to have to wear some kind of compression garmet.

I am nervous as to what to expect this time and was hoping to get some feedback here on the boards.  And to top it off, my family was not supportive of my first surgery and so I've choosen not to tell them yet of my next (and hopefully last!) adventure on Dec. 27.

I plan on updating this thread after my pre-op appt. on Wednesday.  If you have any other questions - please don't hesitate to ask!

Holy cow--it's like we're twins or something. If I didn't have these stupid thighs I could probably wear a 10 in the waist and now getting pants is a study in frustration. I bought those darn things off As Seen On TV that you pin to your waist to use as a 2nd button to tighten the waist.  I've taken to going to the thrift store because at least there are multiple brands there to try and thankfully I have had a little luck. I find that Ann Taylor knows that women can have a small waist and larger hips!! Thanks Ann! He said he did lipo, but acknowledges he did more up toward my true hip rather than my outer thigh, which actually makes the situation worse. Said something about there being a concern of taking too much during the surgery and winding up with a concave outer thigh and I certainly didn't want that either. Like you, I just want to be content--not perfect, but not yet another outstanding feature that causes trouble with clothes!

I'm glad to hear the cost. I can swing that--won't want to, but I will! Might as well take it right up to 25K (was 23 with the LBL, BL and BA--OY!) Glad you had a credit!

I'm sorry your family wasn't supportive. I dont' know what the heck I'd have done without their support. Probably lay in a pool of my drool and rocked back and forth like I was crazy.

I'll surely say a prayer for a super smooth procedure for you. Nice Christmas present to yourself. I hope you are hapy with the outcome.

Looking forward to hearing you've done great!

Merry Christmas!!

Denise
