Sense of taste?

So here's something that occurred to me the other day:

I lost my sense of taste after weight loss surgery, for about 3 to 4 weeks.  Did this happen to anyone after plastics?  My amount of time under anesthesia will be similar... About 7 hours.

I was super depressed for those weeks after my WLS because I couldn't taste a thing accurately.  It was the worst part of recovery for me.  I had actually blocked that part out, but remembered this week.

Haven't seen anyone mention loss of taste as an issue for recovery, hoping that is a good sign : )

Unfortunately this wasn't a problem. When you wake up from surgery and they try and make you eat crackers and juice, remember why they call them "CRACK"ers. Those little white carbs are super addicting and hard to get back off!

Oh man do I wish I had no appetite... And yep, the culprit was the crackers and from that it was warm soothing mashed potatoes and from that.... well, you get the point. I am 4 weeks post op and I can say that I am almost 5 days back to being on track with my eating. It was very tough to crawl out of. Best of luck to you.
