Intense pain 5 weeks post TT

Tomorrow is 5 weeks since my TT + side chest skin excision (and lipo in both areas, I believe) + umbilical hernia repair and until now it's been a very easy recovery. In fact, I've felt so good, I've resumed most normal activities, even a bit of exercise. But I'm afraid I may have spoken too soon. This evening I've been in increasingly more and more pain, culminating in needing to take a lortab for the first time since about day 10 post op.  My entire abdomen, chest, sides, and some of my back and breast, all hurt. It's a strange kind of pain, kind of like an intense pressure and cramping. And it comes in waves. And my compression garment made it worse so I finally took it off for the first time in 5 weeks other than a few brief breaks each day and showers. I don't know if this is at all normal? I am not going to call my surgeon in the middle of the night but will call his office in the morning.  Has anyone else felt like this and is it possibly just all the nerves gaining sensation again that's causing it?  It's not like "need to go to the ER" type pain, it's just a lot more than I've felt at any point until now. And I thought after a couple of weeks post op I was in the clear.

I'm so sorry you're hurting.  I'm still pre-op so I have no experience to share with you.  Hopefully someone else will chime in with some experiences.

Thanks. Doing much better this morning. I spoke to my surgeon's office and they said it is either nerve endings coming back alive or muscle spasms. Either are normal. I took my lortab last night and within 30 minutes felt much better. I am hoping the feeling doesn't come back but at least I know some pain killer will help and they said motrin will also work if I don't want lortab.

Did you try to do too much of something-like exercise?

I took a big step back when I tried to exercise for the first time, and I even took like 7 weeks off.  I would get really bad swelling and pain in my abs if I overworked them even through months 3.  I'm 5 months out and it's only in the last month - 6 weeks that I stopped wearing a compression garment.  My abs still hurt a lot more at the gym too.  I can only do 2 sets of sit ups or something because I get a crampy pain in my abdomen.

I think it's worth calling your surgeon if it's really bad.  Hopefully nothing serious.
