I am having my BL and extended brachioplasty on Tuesday at 8:00 am (less than 36 hrs away... eek!!!). I would appreciate any good vibes, prayers or thoughts you could send my way. I have never had any surgery before that required me to be under general anesthesia. The extent of my surgical experience is having my wisdom teeth out a few years ago. I am getting pretty nervous! Thanks to everyone here for all the information and support! I will update when I can after surgery.
Oh how very exciting!! Don't worry about the anesthesia. You won't even remember going under. They're gonna put an IV in you, and will probably put something in your IV to relax you which will make you feel droopy right away. Then they'll lay you back on the table, and either put a mask on your face or put the medication in your IV (you may not even remember this much) and you'll wake up 2 seconds later in recovery, all finished. You may start to shiver a lot even though you don't feel cold, it's a common after-effect of anesthesia. You might have to try harder to go to the bathroom in the hours following surgery because your bladder might be 'sleepy'. Your throat also might feel a little scratchy from the breathing tube but it's not bad and only lasts a little bit. I didn't feel any pain at all when I woke up from either of my surgeries. If your nurses are good they'll be on top of your pain management the moment you wake up. Just make sure nobody makes any video or phone recordings of you in the hour or so after surgery because you're gonna be super loopy and will probably say some crazy stuff that might be embarrassing later on. I told one nurse "I love my dad. I wish I could clone him and then marry the younger version." (ummmm.... awkward!).
I am sending good vibes your way and picturing you waking up from surgery pain-free and thrilled with your new body!!

I'm actually in the same boat surgically, all I've ever had was my wisdom teeth removed. It's why I read so much about people's experiences with plastics -- the idea of surgery scares me! What procedures are you having done? I wish you luck and a non-eventful recovery. :)
Edit: Sorry, I see that you're having a BL and brachio done. Sorry I missed that before.

The way Lizzy described it was my exact experience. I don't remember waking up in the recovery room. I was told I was a mad man (Although I would have loved to see the video on that).
I remember them injecting stuff in my IV the next thing I knew I was in my hospital room where I spent the night.
Good Luck!!!
