One of my biggest fears before having plastics was having a botched job. I can't tell you how many bad plastic surgery jobs I have seen to the point that I almost didn't do it but I did my homework and made sure to see real results of the surgeon not just photos and it all paid off I am so happy with the results and even standing their naked in front of the mirror my scars are so minimal that you can't even tell that I had plastic surgery. Now lucky for me that I healed so well my surgeon said he would like to take all the credit but the true fact is that everyone heals differently so take a look at any old scars you may have and expect your new ones to be just like those anyway just wanted to share to tell you all do your research look at real people if you can and if you are in ca in the L A area look up dr grant Stevens he is my amazing surgeon best wishes to you all what a wonderful life

Any tips you can share about caring for your incisions to minimize scarring? I know a lot of it is out of our hands, but if I'd like to do anything I can to help it.

My doc used micropore tape after she removed the initial bandages about 5 days after surgery.  The tape helped keep my scar flat. A few weeks after that she said I could remove the tape and then use maderma -  i don't think that was necessary so I haven't - but scar is flat and it looks really neat!  I thought my BB was going to look wierd -  but after the swelling went down it looks completely normal.

A low incision and cute belly button were important to me and I got them both. For those of you still in the research phase, if those 2 things are important, be sure to check before/after pics from your surgeon. Those 2 things seems to vary widely.

And I must say that different parts of our bodies can heal differently. My RNY and lbl/bl scars have all healed nicely, but my arm scars are not that pretty. I'd still do my arms again because I love them and they are shaped beautifully, but I will probably get a revision on that scar someday.
