Drain Removal

I met with the Plastic Surgeon. I showed him the drainage numbers. Before I could say any thing he said "These drains aren't coming out today".

I asked him what he basis the decision on and he said the number of fluid that is in the drain. He wouldn't give me a number.

So I have my drains at least until next Monday when he scheduled another follow-up. I asked him if the drains will come out on Monday he said maybe but no promises.

He said in preparation I should go to Modells (a local sporting goods store) and purchase some spanks.

Dude save yourself some money, should have thought of this earlier sorry. Goto your local walmart and buy Starter compression shirts for $10 bucks, at least that's what they cost here in Ne. I bought some and I wear them 23 hours everyday probably will for at least another 3 months. They are 19% spandex and have the wicking material in them, don't buy the other ones there double check the label for spandex % at 19 you want the higher number the cheaper don't work as good. They have cheap compression shorts too but I got one pair but didn't do anything for me. I wore these after I didn't have to wear binders anymore it's like a security blanket especially if I sneeze since I had hernia repair too.

Good luck

Thanks but way ahead of you.

I bought some starter brand from Walmart for $8. I used them when I went to the gym. Hearing your own breasts cher you on when your running on the treadmil is not the encouragement that I needed.

You're so organized, geez! Charts and everything... My drainages were scribbled on a really long supermarket receipt after I ran out of room on the original form.

Well even though it's a bummer that they're such a hassle, I am breathing a sigh of relief for you because your doctor sounds like he's got your best interests at heart and you don't have to worry about seromas for the next little bit. Yay! I wouldn't be suprised if he only pulled the drain that has serous fluid in it and left the darker bloody one in longer, that one is obviously draining some bleeding that ocurred and it's much easier on your body if you get the blood out through the drain than if you have to re-absorb it. Your body is thanking you right now!

Thanks,

I keep track of everything. You should see the spreadsheet I have on my weight loss and measurements of body parts  guess I'm a bit of a nerd.

The strange thing all of a sudden the drain that was serous fluid changed to a dark color this morning. So when I went for the appointment both drains were dark.

I did mention this to him and he said that's normal as you move around fluid moves too the drain did it's job and collected that fluid. He did check me for seromas. That's when he said he wasn't going to remove anything. He said that I'm not out of the woods at this point and the procedure that he did does have a high complication rate. But he said that I'm a fast healer and I look good so far.

Not sure if you read the VSG maintenance group. But I posted something positive that came out of the visit that cheered me up.
