Thanks Kate!

Glad to hear it was better than you thought it might be.

I worry about having it done 14 days before Christmas.

I wanna be healing well by then!

I got a couple sports bras from Academy that zipped up the front. I put maxi pads over my incisions and the bra held them in place.

Look at how smart you are with the pads!!

I worry about that as I will likely have an extended incision line because of all the side wrap-around boob that will have to be removed.

Yikes!!

(I put little panty liners on my abd incisions to protect them from the binder too!)

I am having the exact same surgery done this coming tuesday.  My surgeon provides the bra. He said it is a front closure bra with the arm compression part attached to it. Maybe you can find one like that...

I bought the Design Veronique sports bra with a front zip plus hook closure and a back hook closure both. I figured it would serve double duty during the post-op phase and then when I got back to the gym. For the most part I've loved it but... between the bottom band on the bra and the top band on the body compression garment I have a big sore line of pressure on my chest just under the boob line. I've taken to wearing a soft tank top under the bra now and then for some relief. For size I just whent with my chest size and the cups were c/d I think since I wasn't sure. Also got a code from my surgeon that gave me 25% off the garments which really helped.

As soon as I was up for an outing I went to Fred Meyer and brought home about 8 bras to try out of various non underwire and size and cup configurations. Took my favorites to my post-op appointment yesterday and my doctor looked them over and approved one so I got to wear that today. Aaaaah, it's more comfortable. But less compression so I looked considerably more va-va-voom than I did in ye old sports compression bra.

And finally I went and order that $25ish post-op bra on MakeMeHeal that has the 2 inch under band thinking that'd help with the pressure issue. Dr. Peters told me it was a good choice as some women have told her it helps to have the wider band.

Although I lost post-LBL butt situation (flat, flat, flat but it'll get fixed at thigh lift time) fate made up the balance because I didn't end up with anything but areola scars for my lift. I can't imagine how hard the bra thing would be if that pressure was on scars and not just sensitive tissue and bone.

I really don't think you can go wrong by hitting target and whatever other local store and buying a bag full before surgery. Then you can try them on as you're feeling up to it and take back what you don't like.

Oh, that bra I got at Fred Meyer was a t-shirt bra that had a fairly thick cup material (not padded but soft and a little firmer, no underwire of course and some wide elastic on the sides and back. Doesn't show in a v-neck like my sports bra does. I can go look up the brand and post what it was. It felt a lot better than the rest of them for me. No seams and those nice wide should straps.

Dr Sauceda provided 2 of these arm/bra compression from Design Veronique

I wore mine for 2-3mo.  I did start wearing a ribbed top over the bra, but under the body compression garment.  The band can cut into the skin, when you are all swollen.
