How long til I can hug...?

 How long did it take you to heal enough from surgery to be able to hug people again?  I know this is a random question, but I am having a BL and brachioplasty next week and was hoping to attend a few Christmas gatherings later in the month. (only for a short amount of time and only if I am up to it).  However, I am normally a big hugger, so I know that people will be expecting hugs from me.  I am telling my really good friends about the surgery but not everyone.  How long after those specific surgeries should I avoid hugging people?  I don't  mind a little pain... just don't want to hug anyone if it is really going to hurt. Also, did y'all find that a side hug worked better at first?. haha! Sorry for the completely random question!  I am just nervous about this ...

Don't really know about a time frame for hugging, but it took me 3-4 weeks before I felt up to anything even close to that. I think this could be one of those times in your life when a little white lie wouldn't hurt to much depending on your conscience. For the people that don't know about your surgery just tell them your back is sore and stiff from lifting something heavy and you need to get to the chiropractor to get straightened out. Let them hug you litely and don't really hug back that much, people are generally a little more jolly and forgiving around the holidays anyways.

Can't say what will be comfortable for you as we all heal differently but I'm 3 weeks out and even with my small setbacks I have had an amazing recovery and honestly other than being tired, having drains and having to wear a binder I forget that I even had surgery. Off all pain meds at just a bit over 2 weeks.

So.... Take it one day at a time and  if you find that you cannot hug just say you feel a cold coming on. That would work on me!
