Vitamin C before surgery

Hi y'all,

Here is a question for ya'.  My Bariatric Surgeon had me on 1000 mg of Vitamin C prior to my surgery to help with healing and to boost the immune system. Did anyone add extra Vit C before your PS?

Yes, same principles and advantages apply.

I bought a bottle to start taking 1000 mg a day now that I'm approaching plastics.

I took 1500 a day for a month before surgery and am still taking it 17 days post op. Also I washed with Dial soap one moth before an am still doing this as well. And wore compression socks that went to my knees a month before.

Who knows if it's bugus stuff but it sure didn't hurt.

How are you doing..any signs of infection or seromas etc?

I sill have one drain out of the 7 and it will be pulled next Wednesday, it's not putting out much but being that it's the last one I'm just going to wait until my 3 week post op appointment. I was taken off of the Antibiotic las week even though I am nursing a hole in my back that needs daily packing. I was told that it's getting smaller and to just monitor my temperature. Honestly this recovery has been a piece of cake!!

Maybe it's because my surgeon was a bit conservative and i will nee a revision later (on his dime) but other than being bored at home I feel awesome and I weaned myself off of the pain meds 3 days ago,

Still sleeping in my medical recliner, hey I rented this for a month so might as well use it!! Only used my shower chair twice but am loving the high rise toilet seat!

 My surgeon actually told me to ge off of vitamin C one week prior to surgery and one week after.  I didn't ask why...

 My surgeon also wanted me to stop Vit C prior to surgery. Something to do with it being an anticoagulant.

I currently take 2000 mg of Vit  C because its in my Iron.. I will double check with my dr
