I don't remember having any after about the 2 month mark, so maybe you're almost done? Hang in there!

I spit stitches around my areola incision and when I asked my PS about it he told me just not to touch them. Well now I'm pissed that he didn't pull them because they have made little circular areas on the scar that are larger. My sister (a nurse practitioner) said that once they poke through the skin, that part of the suture will stop dissolving because it's not being exposed to your body's enzymes that attack it. So it can affect your final scar, yes. It did mine in a few places. Best to pluck em out if possible. I spit stitches for probably a month and a half. My TT incision is just starting to spit in a few places and I'm almost a month out. You can bet that as soon as it pokes out a little bit I'm gonna be going after it with a tweezer and at least trimming it enough so that when I let go, the stitch goes back into my body to be dissolved.

I've spit 4 so far from my extended TT incision.  I'm 5 weeks out; mine are little hard plastic things with almost an arrow or a hook at the end of them?????

They break through the skin and catch on my girdle undergarment, so I just pull them out with a tweezers and they heal right over.

Sorry if TMI but its funny how different all our stitches are!!

I'm so glad you posted about this.  I have a stitch that has come through the skin around my belly button.  I tried to pull it, but it seems like it's attached somewhere because it wasn't coming out.  I decided I would just leave it be to see what happesn.  My husband is telling me that it will get infected if I don't remove it.  I don't know how an infection will occur because everything is healed very nicely...Just looks like a stitch sticking out of my skin.  I have an appointment in a few weeks and think I will just wait until then.  If the doc wants to remove it he can - but I'm not going to touch it.

I have permanent stitches because he used non-dissolving sutures, and even 3 years later they're sticking out. I had one removed from my arm in 09, but I have others that annoy me. Eventually I'll have the arm lift corrected and I'll have the stitches out.

I honestly don't. But I know it is still happening and I'm almost 4 months out! I'd imagine it could happen pretty early out.

You gettin' some?

Denise,
The nurse trimmed some of them on Tuesday. I was a little surprised that my body started spitting them out so soon.. She told me not to pull or trim them myself.. So, I see my Dr in 2 weeks, I guess I'll have them do it. I had some on every incision site..

Thanks,
Michelle
