Spitting stitches 2 months+ out--how long does this go on?

So I've gotten another 5" stitch out from around my nipple and a 3" long stitch out of my pubic line. How long do these stupid things spit? I keep waiting for a body part to fall off when I pull one!!

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Denise

You're gonna need more than Michael Buffer to protect you!! Might want to put in a call to Tyson or Holyfield!!

This makes me feel so much better!  I have a couple coming out from the nip and on the arm. Man are these things sharp.  My question is why aren't they dissolving?

I'm definitely going to be asking about this. And I also have these really hard little ones that are almost like a grain of rice. When I pull my skin tight at the incision line, I can see several of these little rice things. They better stay the hell in there. The spitting stitches are most frustrating to me because a couple of them have left a pretty nasty spot on the incision line that appear that they are going to be a bigger scar. Ugh...I'll let you know if I find anything out.

I only had 2, both on the thigh incision.  Dr Michaels said that the body realizes these are foreign objects and will just reject them.  It is perfectly normal.  That being said I found it yucky.  The first one popped up close to a follow up appointment and he just pulled it with a tweezer - said I could do it myself but I was always afraid I would unravel everything if I did.  the second one I waited to have him pull out and the skin was starting to form a bump over it -- not totally pleasant experience to pull that one but not too bad -- cant even tell where they were now.
