XP- Let's talk Thighs - not Turkey!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Please can we share honest appraisals of our thigh surgery. My surgery is quickly approaching. I had asked Dr. S if he could do a Medial Thigh Lift and he said that I really need a full thigh lift. Ok, he's the expert. He did say that the main thing is that I am comfortable with the decisions about what to do.
My surgery is on December 9th and I return to work Part Time (private office - shut the door, push a mouse) on January 2nd. That gives me 3.5 weeks off work and then in the office as many hours as I can (3-4), long nap, work another 3-4 in the late afternoon, evening.
Dr. S plans to do a full thigh lift, LBL, BL, Arms on December 9th, then a facelift on the 12th.
I am not in fear of any of the surgeries except the thighs. I was reading responses in another thread about the thigh lift. I know that everything doesn't always go as planned and if I needed more time off work, i'd have to take it.
Is this enough time to be through the initial healing stage? If you had the full or medial (please specify) thigh lift, how long until you were able to function and be out of the house for a few hours a day?
Are you happy you did it? Would you do it again? If you had multiple procedures done, was it too much? I'm 61 and in great shape from tons of pilates and hiking/walking the past year to get ready for this. I have a very strong core and my legs are strong and solid.
Please help me as I try to traverse this surgery realm.
I appreciate you all!!!

Well Lee - you have seen my pics so you know what I had done. The first surgery was the TT, mons and medial upper thigh -- once the drains were out that one was really not a problem. I did take 2 weeks from work and returned -- I didn't have a ton of stamina after an 8 hour day (also at a desk, pushing a mouse) but, totally doable.
I am supposed to take 2 weeks (working from home) but will probably return to the office next week because the back/boobs are doing really well and I feel pretty good and it is only day 5. Can't lift things but can sit no problem.
That being said - you are having a LOT done at one time and we are all different.

You've had amazing recovery from both surgeries. You're so right, we're all different. I generally bounce back well from surgery. After my VSG I was on the treadmill on day 5 and back to work on day 7. I've really been hitting the exercise hard in preparation for this. I figure for the first few months it will just be work and rest.

I generally bounce back well from surgeries, too, but my lbl recovery was sooooooo tough!! Just not being able to move much and lots of time resting in bed drove me completely bonkers. Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst. I'm almost 5 months out and did not really feel back to normal until the 4 month mark.

Laura,
I can't remember how soon you went back to work? I'm really planning that my recovery is going to take until June and I'm not expecting a fast return of my energy. I don't have anything major planned for the first half of the year and know that it might be slow going. I'm glad you're starting to feel back to normal!

I went back to work after 7 weeks. Honestly, I could have used another month. I'm glad you have realistic expectations as far as getting your energy back. I did not feel "bad" for very long, but am used to being on the go all the time and not having energy to do everything just got to me.
So happy for you!! You are going to be so thrilled with your results!!
