I had this issue but did manage to pee a tiny bit so they let me left the hospital. Dr visit next day said its cause of all the sedation and anesthesia that may have settled into the bladder. It should be progressively better. An it has, but it has been a month after surgery and its still not exactly like it was before. But at least I can feel relief when I pee and I pass enough to feel emptish.

Met my first goal, met my second goal, met my surgeons goal. Now I have a new goal!

I just had a friend go through this and she mentioned that it was the drugs.. morphine drip. stop that go on a different pain killer and it should kick in.

How long as it been since your surgery?  The day after mine they removed the cath in the am, and I didnt pee until about 5pm.

They were threatening me with a re-cath all day, but I had a nice nurse that just told me to relax and be patient.

Thanks everyone.  They did not have the catheter all the way in.  I am home resting and recovering.

Glad to hear you are OK. Unbelievable about the cath.
