thanks for the heads up. I know things will get better soon and that I cant judge this for a while but I will be interested to see what the surgeon says. Sigh

As far as my situation with plastics was a now or never.

I wanted the skin gone or else it wasnt an option for at least another 5 years, and might not be possible financially then. Hopefully I wont be too affected by the shortened period between procedures.

You may want to look into getting some silicone sheeting to start treating the scars so that if they aren't able to be lowered, you will at least have them nice and light. I mention the sheeting because I was given some and I can really tell a difference, especially in how it prevents the scar from raising and actually depresses it a little.

I'm very eager to hear what your surgeon has to say. I hope you can get some clarity and that what another poster said about the scar dropping is the case!

Hang in there!

I will ask the doc about the silicone sheeting depending on what she says. I have never heard of it, I will do some research on it before hand.

From what I read on the plastics boards with surgeons responding they say contradictory to what we would all think- the scar can actually get higher over time as the body straightens out..
but again i want to hear it from the surgeons mouth before i freak some more!!!

and ill get some pics so I can show you guys. It definitely could be worse..but it sure as heck coulda been lower.

I dont kmow how you feel about tattoos, but if the scar remains high, I have seen some beautiful tattoo coverups on Tummy Tuck scars. Some are very sexy. May not be your cup of tea. Thought I would throw this out there.

Hell - don't worry about it!

I have a VERTICAL scar - from my horizontal line right up to under my bra line.  AND I tend toward keloid scars - so mine really aren't that pretty.

AND I wore a bikini all over Hawaii this summer and no one said a damn thing. (if they did, I had my "I rescued a family of four from a burning building by jumping through a plate glass window" story ready).

i like your attitude! send some over to NJ!

I think my feelings are magnified because I will be living in the Carribean...and thus in a bathing suit, year round, for many years..

But heck, ill be in paradise, studying what i love, who the heck cares about some stupid scar.

Just my two cents, I have had a tummy tuck and I ended up with the scars a little high on my hip bones too, they did flatten and fade and aren't even noticeable, but in the beginning, I just had someone custom make me 10 bathing suits that would hit me just right to cover that scar, I live in Costa Rica, so I know what you mean about living in your bathing suit, but there is a seamstress out there who can hook you up!

Girl.. you know how I feel about where my scar ended up.. but you need to embrace your inner pin up, wear a high waisted suit until yours fades, and just love your new life on the islands!

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

I had my TT a week ago and I noticed on the sides it's higher than what I thought it would be.  In the front, it will defintely be able to be hidden by any suite I want to wear; however, going along the back to the sides is another story.  He did tell my Mom that he had to go farther back and a little higher to make sure everything met properly and laid flat.  Maybe that's what happened to you!  I'm not that upset by it, as I know they fade and it is what it is!

So thankful for my DS! 1/20/2012 - SW 290/CW 155 - 1 year to lose, 1.5 years and counting maintaining!
