Just a question that i have , i have heard of people having thier TT and hernia repair at the same time but wanted to ask here your responses. I'm scheduled for my TT consult in a couple weeks and i have a large ventral hernia that needs to be repaired also. Any info would be great on your experience and feed back from your surgery.

Thanks in advance!

I had my TT and hernia repair almost 8 weeks ago. My hernia was around my belly button and my surgeon spent a long time fixing it so he would not have to use mesh. He wanted to decrease the chance for infection since I was also having the TT. My RNY surgeon did the hernia repair, my PS surgeon opened me up so he could do it, then did the tummy tuck ... It all went very well and I'm healing really nicely. Do you have any specific questions?

i'm glad your doing good and healing well, my only concern was the repair of the hernia and how long would it take to do the surgery? Are you happy with the results so far? How many pounds did you lose after the TT?

My surgery was 5 hours.  Doc said he took off like 5 pounds of skin/fat.  I don't know how much I actually lost because then I had surgery a week later for my thighs and lower back, and seemed to have gained.  I've been home for 8 weeks not exercising much and eating.  Being home, it's easier to fall back into old habits and I have to break them again.  Plus, I have a LOT of swelling, so that adds weight.  But my clothes fit a lot better and some are looser.  I'm very happy with the results only I'm having trouble getting use to a flat stomach because I've never had one.

Good luck.

I had my Extended TT, Umbilical Hernia & Gynecomastia at same time, It's a good time to do it as a lot of hernia's are done laprascopically. When you get a TT with the hernia the skin will already be pulled up out of the way to the rib cage so it will be an open procedure for your hernia which would make it easier & hopefully they would be able to do a better job this way vs laprascopically. My surgery took 3 1/2 hours but there were 2 plastic surgeons in there.

Don't know if you are self pay or not for your plastics. I was self pay but my insurance covered hernia repair which helped make everything cheaper for me by a couple grand. Lost my belly button but could care less, I figure do both at same time gotta have surgery anyways.

Good luck
