Has anyone on here had  a Tummy tuck with Medicare?? I am on Social Security Disability because of my back..I was wondering what the "Criteria" is for the TT.. I need one.. My daughter works for a Plastic Surgeon and she said Medicare pays "after the fact".. But I just don;t want a huge bill.. Can someone help.. I am so tired of this skin hanging..I can't get anything to fit right.. It looks horrible.. I do get "sore spots" under my "flaps".. But I don't let them get bad..I keep myself really dry. I went shopping yesterday for a dress and was horrified that everything I put on looked terrible.. I was disgusted... help...Lucky

I don't know anything about Medicare, but have you looked into a residency program to see if they will work with it? Will your daughter's plastic surgeon give you a discount or finance for you? If you are getting sore spots, you probably need to be going to your PCP to have them documented.

They will not pay for a tummy tuck but will pay for a panniculectomy. You have to be able to document rashes etc and the hanging pannus must hang over the gentials. It has to hide them actually.

I just had it done on medicare the thirteenth of october. I've had issues with blood clots since then so if you do get it be sure to walk and move. Avoid blood clots if at all possible. I tried and still got them.

My daughter works for a very well repected doctor. They are like family to her and the other 4 girls that work for him.. I was researching on the Plastic Forum and I found out that it )panni) can cause back pain..I have had 3 major back surgeries (2 since my lap band). My back pain eased up alot after my last one but in the last 5 months it has gotten worse.. i was thinking my "over hang" might be the cause of my back pain..I do have problems with skin sores and rashes.. about 1 or twice a week.. i power also and use creams. I haven't gone to my PCP for it.. I am not comfortable about undressing in front of him ( I have been seeing him for 28 yrs). I know my daughters PS would help me out and write letters  etc...and I know my orthopedic surgeon would write letters too.. He is the one that suggested WLS. I Love my Ortho doctor..lol.. I would trust anyone else for back surgeries..he has done all 3 of mine plus my neck surgery.. So that wouldn't be a problem..Just the doc. for the rashes..  My daughter is going to talk to her PS boss on Monday and see what he can do.. Do you think if I myself started taking pics. of my panni it would help?  Thanks for your input..Wish me Luck...  hugs...'LuckY

I think the pannis much hang over and totally cover the genitals, no matter what else you have as issues. That seems to be their number one requirment.
