Would you do it?
I got a call from my PS on Tuesday while I was at work. The hospital's communication department is looking for a patient to interview to use as a possible media reference. This is a major, nationally recognized hospital.
I asked what sort of media, and she said they like to have someone they can refer to local TV stations and newspapers when they are doing a piece on the doctor or department, who can provide the patient's perspective on the process. She said she thought of me since I am well spoken, and went into everything with realistic expectations.
She said it is sometimes an anonymous patient profile, other times it may involve more than that. I was a little hesitant, but then thought "why not?" I told her it was fine to provide my cell number and email address to the communications specialist, and she's already emailed me to set up a 20 minute call this afternoon.
I can still decide I don't want to be involved if I don't like what it entails or chicken out. I'm conflicted. I like the idea of anonymity, but also fell like there's absolutely nothing wrong with everyone (mainly people at work) knowing that I've had plastic surgery. I worked hard to lose 150 pounds, and should feel proud, not ashamed, to talk about it!
The old, obese me would rather have died than even consider being in the spotlight in any capacity. I have a new found confidence since my LBL 6 weeks ago, and am trying to embrace more of a "bring it on!" attitude.
Would you do it if your doctor asked? I know you guys will know exactly what I'm feeling, so I'm curious to see how you would make the decision.
Even if nothing comes of this, I take it as a HUGE compliment that my doctor thought of me. She obviously thinks my results turned out well, or she wouldn't want me talking to the media about her. Also, I'm hoping to schedule my upper body work sometime next Spring, and I figured it can't hurt for her to feel a little indebted to me :)

If you feel comfortable, then do it!! I was asked to be on an ad compaign by a hospital, but I declined. I just wan't comfortable having myself out there like that.
Good luck with whatever you decide!!

was doing great till yesterday. My husband and I went out so I get something besides this surgical bra, and my blood pressure tanked while we were out. Haven't felt great since then. Low BP is a little problem of mine. Better than high though! Surgical wise, I feel pretty good. NO pain with the girls, minimal incisional pain with the bra line lift, and my arms just feel really tight and limited mobility. I'm wanting to do more than I should. Still was the best surgical experience I have ever had. Can't wait to schedule my next round.

I WOULD DEFINETLY DO IT, I am so proud of my WL journey & my PS, I am not ashamed of it.
some people want to remain secretive that is their business. but people still realize what u had done & if you always had a panni & sagging boobs and flabby arms and then all of a sudden you have no belly & dont jiggle, people know u had plastics so I just tell them before hand cause I am proud of all my scars

I'd say go for it, if you're comfortable. I just did something similar, though not on a national level. I did a testamonial for our center's weight loss program. It's for their annual report. But they may also use my testamonia, before and afters and story for advertising for their program, and on their website. I was honored to be considered and feel that if hearing my story helps someone else, then it's worth it.
Good luck with your decision.
