okay, the 8 year olds have been wanting an ipad. NOT going to happen since we'd have to buy two...and we live in Deliverance so nobody has service for them.

BUT...I found a decent android tablet for $140 that runs gingerbread platform, so they can play games, stream netflix, etc.

Definitely getting them for the girls...but do we go ahead and get one for the 5 year old?  He runs my phone and the desktop no problem, and I can forsee issues if the girls are watching movies when we travel and he doesnt have one...but there has to be SOME benefit from being older, right??? (asks the only child).

I would probably look into getting him one if you think he would like it.  Alternatives would be a leap pad or a kindle -  which would be less money -  but have more limitations.

There are tablets out there that only have internet capabilities for around $80. I'm thinking of getting those for my girls.

If any of you are near a Big Lots they have decent android close out for $69.  They definately have all the functionality that someone in the 5-15 age bracket would need.

I've looked at some of the cheaper ones, but they all seem to have the resistive screens.  The capacitive are easier for him & his sisters to work (like the one on my phone).

But...sounds like I should just get him one, huh?
