Tummy Tuck to Bikini???

Ok.. so give me the facts.. Gotta a couple of questions on a Tummy Tuck

How soon can you go from Tummy Tuck to Bikini (swelling down)?  How soon can you go from Tummy Tuck to cool walking around topless (swelling gone, bruises gone, scars faded)??

Also for those that had a Tummy Tuck.. how many days of someone caring for you did you need? 3 days or more??. The doctor said 3 days... How many days did you need.

many thanks in advance for answers..

I just had a 3 week checkup.  The doctor said there is ALOT of swelling and I should be very happy with the results in about 5 months!  EEEKKKK...

I was in the hospital for 2 days after surgery (what my surgeon requires).  Was pretty well on my own after that.  I did prefer to shower with my husband until my drains came out.  I would ask him to hold the drains while I washed my hair and body.  I'm sure they wouldn't fall out just hanging there, but it worried me so I did what I felt was necessary...lol

Not sure that I will ever go around in a bikini or go topless.  But I will say that at almost 4 weeks out, I really feel the need to have my torso in some sort of support garmet.  Even if it is off for a short period of time, such as showering, I get a really odd feeling.  Once I put a binder or support garmet on, I feel much better!  Could just be me though.

Good luck on your surgery!

Tummy tuck to Bikini?  Depends on the person I think.

I had my TT with anchor cut last October.  With an anchor - some would say a bikini is a never.  I was in Hawaii this summer and work a bikini all over the damn place.  And I don't have the best scars either (I tend to keloid).  I even allowed photo evidence...

No one came up to me on the beach and said "OMG what HAPPENED TO YOU!!?!"  But if they would have, I had a very elaborate story about how I jumped through a plate glass window of a burning building to save a baby and litter of puppies....I figured I'd go for broke if I was asked.

As for the surgery - my husband was home for the first three days or so, in case I had issues.  After one day it was obvious that I was just fine (no kids to take care of during the day), so he went out and did errands, and worked around the house it.  3 day "vacation" for him.  But I was glad that he would be there just in case.  That being said, I'm not exactly the "needy" type when sick...

That's a great photo. So you waited several months before getting into a bikini?

So it is unrealistic to think about a Valentine Day beach vacation on the beach? If I have surgery before Thanksgiving?

Also I notice in your signature line... you say scar revision.. that was a seperate surgery?

Well - I live in Canada....so not a lot of bikini wearing in February.  ;0)  I probably COULD have gotten in a bikini by then I guess - my scar was what it was by then...

I had a scar revision (on the anchor part of my TT and my arm scars) in August.  I tend to keloid, and one arm particularly was very bad.  We have treated it aggressively (compresession sleeves, silicone sheets) and it is really not much better.  Just as wide on the revision - but quite as high.  And it's going light faster.  I'm also doing hot yoga - it stretches the scars something awful (man they sting, and even get bruises under them at times), but every time I go - the scars stay flatter for a few days...so I do think it is helping.  The pysiotherapist recommended stretching them...

Erica, that's interesting about the Bikram Yoga.  How long before you were able to do it again?  I have a coupon for 10 classes to use before April and was wondering how long after LBL, BL, Arms and Thighs I would be back to yoga and pilates.

Lee - I started back at about 8 weeks (after BL/arm scar revision).  I wasn't doing hot yoga after my TT - so I don't know how long there.  I do know that at 9 months after - my TT scar still stings when I stretch!  Especially at the beginning of class.  But that scar stays the colour it was.  My wider arm scars go almost like a bruise underneath - but it does seem to make them lighter/flatter in the end.  Very weird...

good question!

im moving to the island of st. kitts for vet school in may and cant wait to rock a bikini.

i know there will be scars but i dont care, nothing beats swimming topless and i cant wait to do it!

many people say some swelling goes down within a few weeks but some lingers for up to a year..but i imagine even swollen your bod is probably better than it was before so eh, id say put that bikini on regardless.
