Need tips/advice LBL & Arm Lift 12/15
I have my lbl and armlift scheduled for Dec. 15th and I'm super excited and scared. I want to make sure I am as prepared as possible. Please share any info, tips, advice, stories regarding your plastic surgery or what you've heard. Thanks so much!!
A few questions that come to mind:
1. What to take to the hospital?
2. What to look out for?
3. What to expect re:pain, recovery, etc?
Thanks!!!

I slept on my side pretty quick after the LBL but I am sleeping on my back for a few hours in the bed and then moving to the recliner for a few hours during the night on this surgery. I am going to ask tomorrow if I can start testing the waters with sleeping on my stomach. The recliner has been more of a need with the arms than with my LBL.

I had a panni/abdomnioplasty almost 4 weeks ago. I will say that I was quite shocked, because it really wasn't that painful for me. I barely took any pain meds! Didn't take one (except to help sleep) when I got home from the hospital.
Really I didn't need anything at the hospital. I did take pajama's and panties. However, one of my drains leaked and I bled all over my panties and pajama bottoms. So I then just used some the hospital had.
I would recommend buying some large safety pins to pin your drain tubes. I had 4 drains all in my groin and wore a pair of my husband's boxers and would pin the tubes to his waste band. Funny picture I know, but it did work. I suppose you could do it to you pj bottoms as well.
I went back to work at three weeks. Was a little tired at the end of the day, but made it through.
Best of Luck on your Upcoming Surgery!

You can wear the compression vest or the binder or both. But I had 2 drains and pinned them to my compression vest in the little hooks with no problems. Bring loose fitting bottoms like the ones people wear in yoga. If you are having muscle repair/tightening then yes expect a lot of pain. I had liquid lortab nd that was like gold to me, I could take it every 4 hrs and it knocked me out. First week will be tough, after that it gets easier. Good luck.

I had a tummy tuck with muscle repair/tightening. I was in a lot of pain. I can only comment on the tummy tuck portion but I can tell you that even for me it was a lot of pain. The first 3 days were the worst for me, after that it seemed to get better. I was hunched over to for about a week. I had 2 weeks off of work, then 2 half weeks of light duty, then back to work full time. I still get some swelling if I don't wear the compression vest but I like wearing it, just need to find one of those shirts from Spanx. I was in and out ina couple of hours. The first day I was heavily medicated and don't remember much.
If you are interested I have a checklist that I have compiled. It's not mine so I cant take crdit for it, but I saved it because I was able to use some of the ideas on it and it made my recovery go a lot smoother.
Just let me know and I'll send it to you in a PM.
