Pure Protein Jello Review

I've been trying out various protein items, trying to figure out what will work for me after my body work and face lift.

I ran into a new product recently at GNC and gave it a try.  I bought the Pure Protein Jello cup. Pack of three runs $5.99, cheaper with Gold Card and when on sale.  I stocked up when it was buy one, get one half off.

They have two flavors, but I've only tried the Cherry Punch.  It tastes like jello but tangy if that makes any sense.

You have better taste buds than me then I got a 3-pack pu the other 2 down the disposal, couldn't stand it. If you like them for power to you. You can buy some of those liquid protein tubes about 3oz with 25 grams in them. I went through 20-30 when I was recovering because my little tummy and the swelling with binders prevented me from eating at all.

Good luck on surgery,
Bubba

LOL, not better, just different Bubba.  I can't do the protein tube.  Early post-op I tried an Isopure that people raved about and felt like it burned my throat.  I dumped the rest of them down the sink.

I figure I'll do protein shakes and jello if I can get it down.

I got an unflavored protein powder off amazon. Mixed in milk I add it to either Chai tea, coffee, or cream soups. If I add it to water, I can put it in jello or propel zero.  Also really cost effective.

I got a canister of Beneprotein to add to greek yogurt.  I have some of the Unjury unflavored that I'll try as you're recommending.  Thanks for the tip!

Anyone else think that there is a lot of Potassium in that product? I would imagine if you had that 3 times a day it may cause your BP to drop??

I have heard in other threads that the Collagenic type of protein sucks and is really low quality protein too.. why not try making your own jello shots?

You can buy unflavored protein and mix it with jello.. to me the unflavored whey medical grade protein I have tastes like sour cream or something like that.. so not really flavorless..

Hi Michelle,

I supplement potassium daily because I get really bad cramps if I don't.  I haven't had more than 1 jello daily and don't really plan to.  It's just something to use with protein shakes etc for a change.

I do make my own jello shots using beneprotein.   It's the most flavorless of the unflavored that I've found.

You're right about the collagen protein shots Michelle--not worth the money. I'd say they are better than nothing, but given the terrible feedback I've read about the lack of bioavailability of the protein, I'm not sure that is true!  I've made some protein jello fluff stuff with greek yogurt, protein powder and jello that was pretty darn good. I need to make more of that--gotta dig out the recipe. I wonder if using my lemon flavored protein powder in the water to make strawberry lemonade jello would cause any problem with the jello setting? Maybe I'll give it a shot and report back.

Thanks for the idea!

I haven't tried those yet, but you reminded me that I was going to online to GNC and see what they are about.  My local store(s) didn't carry them.. but...

I did pick up 4 of their cans of chocolate protein pudding.  30g of protein with the first 2 ingredients being isolates.  I figured that was pretty good for a supplementation.  I'll still drink my protein coffees for my primary protein intake.

I haven't tried them yet, but will today and let you know what I think. The guy at GNC said they were really good and didn't have the "protein" taste some do.   Since you had VSG you will absorb the other types of proteins better than those of us with the malabsorption surgeries and Whey Protein Isolate being the first ingredient is a good thing.
