Do I need my stomach muscles tightened?

On Monday 11/14, I'm scheduled to have my stomach and surrounding skin removed.  I will be having the "T" incision.  Is there any reason I need my muscles tightened too.  From what I have read, I didn't think so, now having second thoughts.,

I have already had my face and eye lift. and my arms done in August..  I will also be having a breast lift and bra line fat removed at this time.

About me.  I'm 61 years old, I've lost 130 pounds, now I weight 125.  Most of my weight has always been in my stomach area so the skin there is plentiful.  I am not looking to wear a bikini, only to not have all this overhang.

I never had children so are my muscles in need of repair?

Thanks  in advance for all your advise.

I would say probably. Most people who have lost a major amount of weight need the muscle repair. I haven't had children either, and I need it. But you don't "have" to have the muscle repair, it's your decision. Have you gotten a plastic surgeon's opinion?

Just from my own observations, it seems a lot of times women who get the skin removed only end up disappointed with the results. Of course, you may have different expectations. Good luck!

If you're going through all the trouble to get the tummy tuck, why would you NOT want the muscle tightening? How much does it add to the cost? I love my tighter stomach muscles and would have been so unhappy had they not been tightened. I have never given birth, either, but my muscles were a mess from being obese.

What does your surgeon say???

I have never been pregnant either and I def needed my muscles tightened.

He (my surgeon) showed me at my preop appt. Actually, he was showing the resident, but I was laying flat and he asked me to come up a bit like I was gonna do a sit up or a crunch. When I did, my abd pooched out and he put his hand on the pooch and had the resident feel where my muscles were pulled apart and stretched.

(It is called Diastasis recti)

So glad I had it done.

I don't think I would have been happy with the results if I had not.

Your only 61 your still young, you only want to do this once if you can help it. I say go for it, it's worth the extra cost and you'll feel like you got abs again.
