I am scheduled to have a breast lift and extended brachioplasty on Dec.6th.  My Dec calendar is already filling up with parties that I know I may not be able to attend but would love to be able to if I am healed enough.  Realistically, how long should I expect to not want to do social things, go to parties etc after my surgery?  Also, how long before I can hug people again?  My best friend is pregnant and finding out the sex 3 days after my surgery.  I really want to be at dinner when they reveal it to everyone.  Is that crazy to even hope for?  Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I'm having the same surgery next week and was wondering the same thing.  Also wondering about holding a book. Love to read and figured recovery is a good excuse to get lost in a book.  Actually going to use the surgery as an excuse to get out of all the Thanksgiving prepararations! (and cleanup)  Will be looking for the replies.

If you don't do anything all day long you may be able to make the dinner. My breast lift and aug wasn't bad at all but I was more focused on the pain in my thighs. My arms didn't feel bad but your fingers will be very swollen at 3 days out. Also your range of motion will be limited. If you don't care if people don't see you at your best and know about your surgery you may be able to do the dinner. I'd say probably 2-3 weeks before you're going to be feeling good and be back to somewhat normal.

Breast and arms scheduled here for Dec 14.
Hope to be in fighting shape for Christmas.

I was back to wok after my TT/Fleur de lis with muscle tightening in 3 1/2 weeks.

Crossing my fingers that it was the harder of the 2 surgeries!

I went back to work in 10 days.  Still tired easily but was able to do fine.  You just have to stay in compression & make sure your careful reaching & stretching for things!

I went back tow work a week and a half after my surgery.  I only worked a half day the first week.  The day after surgery the bandages were removed and I didn't use any compression.  I think my first trip out of the house with someone else driving was six days after the surgery to see the surgeon.  If you've got someone to help you get ready and to drive you the the dinner I guess you could go - but I wouldn't plan on spending more than half an hour at the party.
