Fighting guilt

I completely understand feeling guilty. I had a very difficult time with this. I work full time, my husband is disabled,  I have 4 kids. I have never spent any major money on myslef until I paid for my TT (I am 2 weeks post op). The initial shock of swiping my ATM card and having the balance drop was tough for about 5 minutes. But then, I was overcome with relief. I knew that I was doing something for myself that also benefited my kids. Me being healthy would mean more to them than any toy that I could ever buy them for Christmas!
Now that surgery is over and I am in the beginning of healing, I am still happy that I did this for myself.
One thing that I heard while interviewing surgeons and researching procedures was that you need to remember that you are shopping for your body. This isn't a pair of pants. If you needed to buy a liver, you would not buy it at Wal Mart. Price should NEVER be the determining factor when chosing a surgeon.
Good Luck with everything and don't feel bad. You have worked hard to get to where you are and deserve to feel like a normal person with a normal body.

I think this totally makes sense. To me it's not guilt so much as frustration that I screwed my body up so bad that this is what it will take to fix it. We don't have children and hopefully our cars last for a while but as I sit here and look at the envelope that has the anestesiologist cash in it I can't help but think that it should be going towards something else.

You got a great price and this is a major investment but I would expect that this will do much more than improve your appearence, this will improve you mentally. I look forward to having more confidence and confididence will help me everywhere I go and  in everything I do!

Being single and 58 it was a bit of a different decision.  Should I save for retirement or fix my body.  My car was paid off in Dec, so I kept my payment going to the credit union, so I'm still socking away that money so hopefully, I'll get this paid off in a couple of years, plus payments are coming out of my salary for the 401k loan.

No regrets about spending almost 20k to fix me.  I'm worth it and now I look as good as I feel.  The boost to my self-image and self-esteem shot through the roof with PS.  I'm out dancing, flirting with younger men...having a ball.

It's natural to feel this way. I'm sure we all have something else we could be spending tens of thousands of dollars on. This is important to you, though, and therefore it's worth it. You're worth it! I bet your family will be pleased just to see you happy.

I felt the same way.. I struggled for a couple of months about it.. I felt like my mental health was at risk and so was my success at the WLS. My mother in law and hubby sat me down and said DO IT. So for now .. Extended Tummy Tuck with lateral thigh lift.. next year the boobies..

I have worked so hard at losing over 160 pounds.. and hated the extra skin and always wearing supportive garments... I refer to as " my full body armor".

My surgeries will over the next 3 years will be more than 25k...I just have to get  it done for me..

My husband said i shouldnt have to have gone through that and still be unhappy(the skin) and took 44,000 out of his retirement to let me get allll my work done...... use it, do it, and enjot it... you will live in your body for the rest of your life... not necisarrily your house!!!!

God Bless..pay it foward..Christine
