Im just curious to know what info does unitedhealth care need to approve removal of excess stomach skin? If anyone who has that insurance in maryland who knows or who has had it. Thank you!

It really depends on your employeer and if they purchased that  option. I have united health care and my employeer opted out of that option so I'm self pay.

Contact your insurance company and see if it's included in your plan.

As a Maryland-based plastic surgeon (North Bethesda) , I can tell you that United Healthcare is one of the tougher insuance companies to get coverage. That being said, there are many different plans within UHC and you need to see the particulars of your plan. It is best to call them directly and ask.

Generally, they want to see documentation of a medically necessary reason for the panniculectomy (rashes, ulceration, infections, or severe debilitation). They also want to see pictures of your belly that show a significant hanging pannus.
