Looking at possible revision surgery

I am 2 mo. post facelift and it looks like I will have to maybe have a revision.  I would like opinions from other PS specializing in revision work.  At the least, I was told I would need some touch up.  What do you ask when making an appointment with other surgeons?  I just want to make sure what he suggests will work and not make the problems worse.  I know I will have to pay for a consultation but may or may not use them...just need their opinion as to whether the problem will get better on its own or what they may suggest will correct it.  It would be helpful to have more info before I think about more surgery.  I know I will have to wait another 6-9 mo. but will have to pay again so need to save up.  Kinda disappointed as I was planning on have BA/BL, arm lift in January & LBL in April or May.  Any suggestions?

Best person for a revision is the original PS.  Usually it's done for reduced cost to boot. Other docs are usually hesitant to take on other surgeon's touch-ups.

Revisions after bariatric plastioc surgery are common, that's just the way it is.  I plan on doing revisions from my Stage 1 surgery (LBL + Breast lift) during Stage 2 (arms and legs) at no charge. Only caveat is to wait until all swelling and stretching has settled at about 3 -5 months.

It is not uncommon for many after weight loss patients to require a revision after a facelift, especially in the neck and I share this with all my patients prior to their surgery. The best PS to do your revision is the one who did the initial surgery. Each PS has their own revision policy so I would check with your first plastic surgeon. I would usually do not do any revisional work on the face for at least 6 months and in some instances up to one year. Only after talking to your first plastic surgeon, would I recommend a second opinion.

Thank you for your responses.  I did voice my concerns about the tightness of my jaw (particularly on the left side) as well as the jowl area at the corner of my mouth that forms a loose bag and he wasn't really sure what could be done.  I was supposed to have a browlift to correct my vision and added the facelift to be done at the same time.

Functionally, the jaw concerns me the most as it pulls back so I have an overbite, difficulty pronouncing "f's" and "v's" and my mouth pulls down toward my chin on the left side when I talk as well as being unable to make it stay shut when I tip my head back.  Visually it is a little odd but the baggy areas near my mouth and horizontal lines are probably what is most cosmetically noticable.  I was supposed to have Endotines placed on each cheek but that was changed a few minutes before surgery because he felt that it wouldn't be a good idea with someone who had had Bell's palsy.  I really don't know technically what is wrong and I'm not really that picky but my mouth/jaw area looks odd and doesn't function well.  I have massaged it, stretched it, iced it and put heat on it.  It is starting to pull down on the bottom part of my ear.  I thought make-up would help cover the lines/bags but it just seems to emphasize the shadows.

At this point, not sure I trust this could be made better so will probably wait the 9-12 mo., see how it affects my eating and speech and seek out several other consultations before making a decision.  Kind of a shame because he did quite a good job on my browlift and eyes.

Wow! I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I hope it resolves itself soon or you find the right surgeon to help correct the problems.

I'm really sorry that your facelift didn't turn out as optimally as we all hope it will.  I do hope that in the coming months things get better with your speech.

Thanks for your post...I also hope it gets better.  In the meantime, I have decided to consult with a couple of other PS in Seattle to see what their opinions are.  I was told that Botox may help relax the muscles in the jaw so I think I will go to a local PS office and see about it.
