How mobile are you at 2 - 3 weeks out?
Hi folks! I am here for a reality check.
On Dec 12, I am having a LBL, brachioplasty and breast implants. My boyfriend has asked how mobile I'll be by Christmas Eve (12 days later) and New Year's Eve (19 days later). I told him that I'll just have to wait and see. I know he wants to do something on NYE, but I don't know if I should go ahead and tell him that I'll be couch-ridden.
I'm 29 and had a very easy recovery from my previous surgeries. I know plastics are different due to the large skin incisions and swelling.
Help a girl out with a reality check... What kind of celebration would you have been up for at 2 or 3 weeks out?

I assume you are having circumferencial LBL with 360 degree incision?
I had the fleur de lis TT incision and brachioplasty and I wouldn't have been able to go anywhere with drains hanging at 3 weeks.
People with circumferential incision (no vertical incision up the belly) seem to do better than those with anchor cuts. They seem to be up and about sooner.
Until drains are out - it is hard to put any clothes on that are comfortable and cover up the drains.

Thank you!
Circumferential incision, but I opted against the vertical fleur de lis at this time. I'll likely add it in the future during a 2nd stage once everything else is healed and I see what kind of results I get without it.
Drains are a pain in the ass for sure! I need to ask my surgeon how long she typically leaves them in...

Hello,
This friday, I will be 3 weeks out from my LBL. We are going to an Air Show this saturday. It will be all day outside. There will be chairs available in case I get tired, but I think I will be ok. I am almost ready to go back to work, maybe next week.
I still get tired somewhat. I still like to lay down and prop my knees up and relax the belly area. Of course, I love it when I am pampered! lol!
Hope this helps!

Thank you! I appreciate your feedback and have fun at the air show! I am hoping to be able to go to a nice hotel party or to a nice dinner that night at least...
If I'm still feeling schmoopy, maybe we can drive down (about an hour) to my family lake house and watch some fireworks over the water. That might be a nice back-up plan.
Do you happen to have any before/after pics you'd be willing to share?
Thank you!

Hi! I definitely would not have been up for being social at 12 days out. At 3 weeks out I was able to go to a pumpkin patch and walk around for a couple hours with occasional breaks to sit. As the other posters said, the drains will be a pain to work around if you have them for a dressy function. And you will likely still tire pretty easily. You are having more work than I did though, so I'd be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.
Good luck!!

Start weight: 335 Current weight: 185 Goal weight: Whatever the hell I can maintain without driving myself insane!
I had mine done 12-16-10 - see the siggy for deets.
I was mobile enough to attend family parties for Christmas Eve and Christmas day, but did leave early to come home and sleep. I chose to not do anything New Year's Eve, but then again I usually don't (DH and I stay home and snuggle, but then we're old LOL!).
I had no drains from the first round, but was still swollen and tender, so attended the family stuff in festive pajama pants and oversized shirts.
Seriously, if you're a good healer, just make sure that any plans allow for you to leave if you're tired (or go take a nap in the host's room), and to dress pretty casually. You should be fine.

I had an LBL, BL, arms & medial thigh lift on 1/13, then a full neck & face lift on 1/17, flew home on the 26th (a very, very long day). On the 29th, went to a party for a few hours turned into about 6... mostly sat in a chair, I did do 2 slow dances, mostly just hanging on and 2 karaoke songs with a group. Wiped me out. Didn't do much on the 30th but take naps all day. I had one drain in that I clipped to my waistband. I was still wearing terry cloth pants becaused they stretched and didn't hurt anything. I'm old - was 58 at the time. I did rest my head on a shoulder during some presentations and closed my eyes for about 15min.
