Anyone had TT first and outer thigh/butt later?

Hi Gals,

So I'm still noodling through all my various surgery combinations. Over the weekend I read an old post from someone who, at the advice of their surgeon, did the tummy tuck first and planned to follow with the backside lift later. It reminded me that two surgeons I consulted with wouldn't even do an LBL because they felt that having a scar from skin pulled down on one side and up on the other was not the best for recovery. So that got me to thinking maybe I could do a combination that hits all my most important areas at once:

-- tummy tuck
-- breast lift + aug
-- inner thigh lift

Then I could do arms, outer thights and butt down the road. But happier in skirts and shorts while I save money. My surgeon is being really flexible and we've talked about a few combinations but this combination hadn't crossed my mind until I read that old post. So my question is...

Anyone had a tummy tuck first and then done an outer thigh and/or butt later? Just wondering if it worked out as you expected? Did the scars match up? Would you recommend it?

Thanks for any input!

Britt

I'll be curious to see the responses that you get Britt.  I'm scheduled for a LBL and Thighs at the same time, along with breasts and arms.  I'm really thinking hard about what I want to do.  I still have until December to figure it out. Dr. Sauceda seems to think that doing it all together and having 1 recovery would be best for me.  I had suggested doing thighs later and he said that the main thing is that I'm comfortable with my decisions.  I have until my mark-up on December 8th to decide.

WOW, Lee

That's a lot.. I will really be thinking about you. My surgeon will not tie LBL and thighs together because he says that the thighs alone is a complex heal. Heck I'm paniced about my circumferential and arms.

But I assume you have really thought this through and knoe that WE will all be here cheering you on.

Thank you!  I really don't think I'll know exactly what I'm going to do until I'm in the mark-up room talking to him about all of my options.

Hi Britt,
I had the same question since i just talked to Dr. Quiroz over the weekend, i had a tummy tuck in 2007 but the doctor dint take the incision far back enough resulting in love handles and back roll. My mid-section on my tummy is still loose so now Dr. Q said i need a revision TT with a little lift but in addition he said i need my incision to also go up and down (like an open RNY surgery) to get all the loose skin in the middle so i can only imagine that either my skin has bad elasticity or my previous doctor didn’t know what the heck was best, after the swelling went down a year later i noticed it was getting loose when i would bend over.

Long story short, he said its best to do it together for the recovery time and your body to heal and have time in between procedures. Hope this helps and i wish you the best of luck with your procedures.

Well, I wish I could give a final report, but I am in the middle of exactly that......

surg. 1 - arms
surg.2 - medial thigh and abdominoplasty (w/ outer thigh lipo - I have got some serious saddle bads)
surg 3.- outer thigh and butt lift

I have done surg. 1 and 2, but an doing surg. 3 in Dec.  My PS and I have talked through exactly where I should expect the scar to be etc.   With the third surgery she will pretty much be cutting out the first scar from the love handles back.  I feel flat in the front now, but not really "finished" as my love handles are still flappy and my butt when that is a whole nother story.

Hoping you get some responses who have been through it all the way.

Thanks for all the input, gals. The surgeon called me today - kinda took me a minute, I mean, who expects a plastic surgeon to call them out of the blue to discuss their pre-surgery questions?

She said she spent some time thinking about it and looking at whatever data she studies and just feels that separating the LBL into a front and back won't give me the kind of results I'll get with the full LBL. She said they have to end the abdominoplasty tapering down to the hips and even if they do a flank lift later it won't be the full swath of skin and lift they can do with a single circumferential procedure. She'd do it if I was absolutely convinced that there's no other combination I want to do for procedure #1 but she's worried I'll be disappointed in the end.

She did say I can choose LBL + breasts OR LBL plus thighs. She doesn't normally do LBL, she likes to see the results of the LBL and have them all healed so she can make the least invasive plan possible with the thighs in the second procedure. But she's confident that if I choose thighs plus LBL there wouldn't be any discernable difference in outcome than doing them separately.

It's going to be a hard decision. If I do the LBL + breasts first I'm worried that my husband will lose motivation afterward and try to talk me out of thighs or push me to postpone. Then I'd face another summer with no shorts or swimsuits. But I was kinda looking forward to new boobs. Guess I'll have to see where he's at with all that.

In the end I can still go with Dr. Sauceda and get it all done plus throw in a neck lift. But I really, really, really liked the surgeon here and don't want to be away from my kiddos for two weeks. Such a tough decision :-(.
