Have thigh lipo with LBL now? Or skip it and wait for future thigh lift?

So I'm planning to do an LBL and BA/BL in November. I have a lot of extra flesh and skin on my thighs (I'm 135 and 5'6" and I swear that ever remaining fat cell in my body is located on my thighs). The doctor says I can add lipo to the first procedure and do my knees and inner and outer thighs. Between the full LBL and liop I might be happy enough with my legs that I can get by with a groin thigh lift later instead of a long vertical scar.

So... Do I take that bet and gamble $3,000+ now and hope for a cheaper and easier thigh lift later? Or bank on needing a long thigh lift later and forget the lipo knowing most of that skin will be excised?

There are pictures on my profile if it helps. I can add another one that shows how much inner thigh laxity I've got.

Sigh. I was all ready to schedule but the lipo pushes the price up so we have to decide all over again.

WOW!  you look great!  saw your pictures and i'm afraid i can't help!  my PS said that the only way to really help my thighs is to have the long veritical incision.....but your thighs don't look as bad as mine.  i have lots of skin hanging right above my knee (and toward the inner thigh) so it wouldn't be helped with the groin thigh lift.  of course, i'm 52 and have yo yo dieted the last 30+ years and my skin elasticity is no longer there......but....after my tummy tuck (incision goes to the back of my hip bone on both sides) i can see a difference in my outer thigh.....i'm actually quite pleased with the outer thigh but the lower/inner looks real bad!

sorry i can't help!  but just wanted to tell you that you should be so very proud of your accomplishment!  you look great!  and i'm so happy with my tummy tuck!  i've never had a cute tummy....but i have one now!!!  and my PS does awesome belly buttons!!  still pondering on the thigh lift......just not sure....and i really need breast implants.....but....gonna just be happy with the tummy tuck for now!

best wishes!  and take care of yourself!!

Hello,
I just wanted to pass on my two cents worth. I am two weeks out from my LBL. I was disappointed that they wouldn't do th thigh lift at the same time. I felt my waist and thighs were the worst two areas on my body and was disgusted by them equally. The Drs said they would do some lipo on my outer thighs, but that the inner thighs will have to wait until I do the thigh lift. I am SHOCKED at how much was lifted off the thigh area, even the inner area, from the LBL! I still want to do the thigh lift, but they are improved greatly. I say have the lipo on the outside and wait until you see the results of the LBL. You may be pleasantly surprised as well! Plus I think you will end up with a better, tighter thigh in the long run. Maybe they won't have to so the longer scar when everything is said and done. At least that is what I am hoping for!

I have to say I think your legs look phenomenal. I'm also just out from a LBL. I had lipo on my outer thighs with my LBL, but I had really bad saddle bags and yours are NOTHING like mine. I'd almost say forego the lipo now and just do the LBL. I'd think you could get a really nice result just from the LBL. My surgeon said that if he did too much lipo even on my massive saddlebags that i could wind up with a very straight, boyish look, so I worry a bit about getting lipo on your outer thighs, but assuming he knows not to over do the lipo.  I'd agree with Gail. If you have to choose, I'd say do the lipo now and I'm putting my money on you not even needing a thigh lift later. My inner thighs were not helped as much as I'd hoped, but I started with really, really saggy inner thighs. Thanks mom!! :)

Good luck deciding. I think you are in such good shape now I really can't imagine you getting anything but a phenomenal result!!

I'm excited to see your afters!!

I had both - First step was the LBL and I'm home recovering from my thigh lift which was 6 days ago.

The LBL did improve my thighs in some regards, but I still needed the thigh lift.  One of the things you can do to help you figure it out is to stand in front of a full length mirror and pull up on your panni.  You will see it raise your thighs, which is what the LBL will do.  Then spread your legs a bit and pull your thigh skin sideways to the back.  That is what the thigh lilft will do.

The LBL takes care of vertical looseness, and the inner thigh lift takes care of horizontal looseness.  I also had 4 pounds of fat lipo'd out.  I'm hoping that looks good, hard to tell now because I'm very swollen.

One thing to consider, though, is that they are both TOUGH things to recover from initially.  To get your LBL and thighs done together you will need some help at home for a few weeks, I would think.

Oh yeah, forgot to say but I have some photos of my thigh lift on my profile if you want to take a look.  We're about the same size, I might be a few pounds bigger.  I'm 5'6" and weigh about 145.

Wow Britt, I've seen you post here and there about how you still have a lot of weight to lose in your legs. I have to say that your legs don't look shabby at all! I wouldn't be surprised at all if you were able to get away with just the groin thigh lift. Looking at your pics I guess I just expected to see someone more bottom heavy. ;)

I've seen that many others combine the leg lipo with the thigh lift at the same time, so I imagine you can just hold off and do both later. The LBL should pull up your thighs a little anyway.
