Lymphatic Massage--did you do it?

I have read lots about this being great for swelling/scar improvement post surgery and I found a gal in my area that slecializes in post-plastic surgery lymphatic drainage, but was wondering if anyone had any firsthand knowledge of it. If so, when did you start and how often/how long did you do it?

Thanks!

Denise

I had read about it but just never got around to it.  I swelled like crazy after my LBL, but all is ok with it now.  I'm curious to read what you find out.

I did one complimentary session courtesy of my surgeon and I thought it was great. I would have done more, if I could have afforded to.

Is it supposed to help bring swelling down or just make you feel better?  Or help the scar heal better?

My surgeon insists on it.  He employs a massage therapist in his office and it is part of the price for the procedures.  Had BL and arms done 11/02/10 and LBL on 11/16/10.  Startws massage at 10 days out and continued 2x week for a month.  Then bought a package deal that was a discount and went 1x week for another 2 months.  Helps immensely with breaking up scar tissue and swelling.

Great to know!! What a great service offered by your surgeon! I found what sounds like a phenomenal therapist in my area that does the massage. I hate to pay the $100, but it is money well spent if it helps reduce swelling, improve scar tissue, and potentially wakes up some of these nerve endings that are still numb.

I'm still pretty tender and have these darn drains in, so I'll start once those are out.

Thanks again for the info!!
