I'm two weeks out from the hernia repair and panni removal and one week from the thigh and lower back lift. This second surgery has really thrown me. The highlight today, I managed to wash my own hair at the kitchen sink. I spend most of the day lying on the couch, and my four drains are still draining really well. Not much tastes good so I'm living off three protein shakes/day, apple. Low fat cheddar cheese, some meat and saltines. I was starting to feel good after the first surgery but the thighs and lower back has really thrown me for a loop. And I'm so tired. Please tell me it's going to get better soon. I'm use to healing faster than this

I wish I had some advice for you.  I will be having my tt next week.  Have you been staying on top of your vitamins?  It sounds like you are getting the protein in.  It just may take you some additonal time to recover.

Hopefully things will start getting better soon!

Your body has just been through a major assault.  Be kind to it.  Be patient with yourself.  If someone else had just told you they had beent through all this in 2 weeks, would you expect them to be feeling very yippy skippy?  Probably not.  Take this time to love yourself and your body.  Continue with the protein and vitamins.  If you still are feeling really lethargic in a week or two, talk to either your primary or surgeon about your iron, b12 levels and possible thyroid level.  Good luck.

It's major trauma to your body....it takes time to snap back. Push the protein and fluids and more than anything...REST!  It gets better but it's a slow process.

You know what really helped me when I got depressed after my BA/BL? Company. I was really isolated (understandable) and didn't even want to reach out to any of my friends because I felt so cruddy. But one of my friends came over anyway and watched a movie with me. We didn't need to talk. Just sat together. We did talk afterwards a bit but I was very tired. It helped a lot though. You don't realize how lonely you get until you are social again. I bet some of your depression is loneliness. Can you call a friend or two to just come sit with you for 30 mins? Watch a movie with you? It can be hard asking for favors from people or asking for their time, but that's why they're your friends. It will make them feel good to know they're lifting your spirits. You'd do the same for them. So reach out and get yourself a little company.

I've been very fortunate.  My friends have been dropping by, cooking us meals, texting and calling.  It does help a lot to have my friends.  I'm just not use to being useless for so long.  But you are right, company does help.

Thanks.
